“jeans and trainers are welcome!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

My partner and I arrived for dinner in the restaurant (Leo's) at the hotel having previously booked a table by email. Our booking had been accepted and the acceptance from the hotel pointed out that the dress code was smart casual. You can imagine our surprise when the restaurant manager said the very smart cut offs we were wearing did not comply with their dress code. He did say he would make an exception for us!
When we took our seats we noticed other diners wearing scruffy deium jeans and trainers!
Subsequently we emailed the hotel management suggesting that in future they define what they mean by smart casual. Our email was ignored, totally. We don't understand why. The service in the restaurant was pretty good. Its a shame they won't reply to emails.

“A Beautiful Hotel with a superb view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

We arrived at this hotel and the check in was quick and we where in our room in no time. This is all you want when you traveled for hours on end. The room was amazing, very spacious, elegant and the staff very friendly and always offering to assist. We opted to have dinner in their main restaurant and it was worth every penny. Superb waiters, superb food, great wine at the right temperature and a clean looking restaurant. Breakfast the next morning was superb and I did not want to leave tis place. Congratulations to the management and all the employees. I cant wait to get back there.

Room Tip: All the rooms are superb

“Nice hotel, well located, excellent cuisine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

We spent one night at the Heinitzburg. It is in walking distance to some major attractions down town. We got a very nice. Manager of the hotel leaves nearby and is very friendly. Staff not authorized to help you. Cuisine is great but service especially not on Western High Cuisine standard. All in all good hotel for 1-2 nights in Windhoek.

“Best hotel in Namibia?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

For our trip around Namibia and then Botswana, we had to come back to Windhoek twice. Our travel agent, (we seldom use them but this trip needed a lot of information that we couldn't find), mentioned this hotel but didn't push, until we checked it out and then WE pushed! The first stay-over was the classic 'arrive late afternoon, refresh, dinner, wake up, go to airport'. When we checked in we were told that we had been upgraded to a suite, for reasons no one seemed to know. The reception was friendly and efficient. A drink before dinner on the terrace overlooking the twinkling lights of Windhoek, and a warm breeze. Then on to dinner, which proved to be a little disappointing. A bit too inventive. But the service was excellent. It's obvious that the management has it as a/the top priority. Breakfast was sumptuous.

Our second stay was a re-play of the first except for the morning trip the the airport. Our onward flight was at 9 p.m. so we asked for a late check-out, but even that would have meant a long wait at the airport. The hotel director arranged for a 6 p.m. check-out for a modest surcharge.

The hotel has 20-some rooms and suites, so the clients are well taken care of. No two rooms are alike and from what we saw and experienced, a nice touch of the old and new together.

If you want 'old world service', this is the place. In a manner of speaking, staying here is as much an experience as it is a lodging for the night.

“A lovely place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

Wonderful hilltop situation, excellent service and cuisine. This family owned business well deserves its reputation as a one of the best places to stay or dine in Windhoek.
