“Two night stay, very relaxing and convenient.”

After two days of flights from US to Namibia, we needed a rest. Our stay at Rivendell was pre-arranged by Wild-Dog Safaris. We were very pleased with the selection.

We were warmly greeted by the staff. We had a small en-suite room overlooking the small pool.

The house is surrounded by lush, shady plants. It is in a very quiet neighborhood (across the street from the China embassy.) It had a very family feel. There were a couple of families staying there.

The house has a big kitchen for use at anytime. The honor bar fridge was great and the prices were so low. The breakfasts were made to order. My wife ordered eggs, I had the full English. We met some great people at the breakfast table. The front porch of the house was a nice place to sit.

The location is close to the center of Windhoek. It is a 10-15 minute walk to the city center and Post Street Mall.

The staff was very helpful in setting up dinner reservations and transfers (taxi) to and from Joe's Beerhouse and Luigi's. (Highly recommend both restaurants.)

We stayed at another guesthouse after the safari but we definitely prefer Rivendell.

“Nice quiet place.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011

Over all a good place to stay, clean rooms, friendly staff, nice pool.

Breakfast is a bit expensive and you will need a taxi to go into town.

If you are looking for a place that is quiet and relaxing, this place is a good choice, if you like to be in the middle of things, you should look for something in the downtown.

“Helpful Staff, Lovely Rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

We used Rivendell as a base for our trip around Namibia. We travelled around Namibia and returned back to Rivendell 4 times throughout our trip. The staff were incredibly helpful in making our trip more comfortable and organized. We were able to leave our luggage there while we were away, arrange pick ups from various airports, and arrange fantastic packed lunches for the road. The rooms were very well designed and comfortable. Amazing hot water showers (great cause we were there in the winter!) and very comfortable beds. Even the grounds are nice and relaxing to sit and read a book. I wouldn't say the location is close to town, but we were able to walk to various restaurants when it was still light outside. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

Many thanks for taking the time to post your review, and thank you for your positive comments! We are busy renovating the main bathroom inside the house at the moment with a new, larger shower, washbasin with stand and new tiling, paintwork and window. We are also replacing the main toilet with a new one and adding a small washbasin which should hopefully make life more comfortable for guests staying in the shared facility rooms! Our new linen should be arriving shortly and all our single bed mattresses were replaced with new ones last month. Thanks again and a Merry Christmas!

“Great mid-range guesthouse”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

Large rooms, secure parking and a friendly atmosphere. A very pretty and quiet garden with pleasant swimming pool. Easy access to the centre of Windhoek. An informal atomosphere so easy to exchange travel stories with other guests. The bedding and a few of the features give the guesthouse a slightly down-market feel which doesn't appear to match the price, but then again N$760 per night doesn't get you so much in Windhoek. Staff were helpful and friendly (although not quite to the extent implied in some of the other reviews). Would definitely recommend if you are not looking for opulence.

Many thanks for taking the time to post your review! We are busy ordering new linen right now - we have a new supplier who will provide us with plain white, 200 thread count poly-cotton which is of a much higher standard than we presently use, so we hope that this will add some luxury to our rooms. The price for an en-suite double/ twin room including breakfast is actually N$720, for 2012 we are only increasing the room rate by 5% and we won't be increasing the breakfast prices at all. We hope that this will help to keep our prices affordable whilst we continue to improve our facilities!

Best regards,
Charlotte

“A friendly and homely atmosphere. Very relaxing.”

Having spent a hectic 3 weeks touring Botswana and Namibia with friends, I needed somewhere quiet and relaxing before catching the return flight to UK the next day. This was the ideal place as there was a lovely garden with comfortable loungers and a pool. The staff were most helpful, the breakfast was excellent, and there was a good restaurant just across the road.

Room Tip: I had a small single room which was clean and good value for money, but a bit far from the bathroom...
