The hotel is reasonably good. No use complaining as there is only one other hotel in town (also a Sun group hotel). But I have no complaints about the quality of the rooms.
The service was always very, very friendly (maybe even a bit too friendly sometimes!). I have no complaints about the service. The staff do their best and want to help!
I enjoyed the breakfasts there - good quality and variety.
The buffet at lunchtime is GREAT. Highly recommended if one is a meat lover. The lamb dishes are always good quality, and a really good variety of dishes. I was never disappointed.
The chinese restaurant quality varies. Generally, the food was second rate. One evening I ate there with Chinese colleague and senior government official, and the food was very, very good. BUT, we had to wait 45 minutes for the food, and then it arrived all at once, including the pre-dinner table snacks! WTF!?!?
I reserve my real complaint for the Internet service. One has to buy expensive pre-paid download volume based coupons, and many denominations not available. Very inconvenient if needing to download documents of unknown sizes from business colleagues. On the last day, when I only needed perhaps 5 minutes of Internet access to check some airline bookings, I had to buy the most expensive coupon because the staff did not have any cheaper ones available.
Also be warned, a casino is attached to the hotel, so a lot of activity at times, and plenty of working girls. But they do not pester you and only chat if you talk to them first. I think that they are kept under strict control by the hotel.
The tourist offices in Maseru are very poor,. I asked for free brochures there but the only free things offered to me (by giggling ladies in their 50s) were packets of condoms!
Oh! One other complaint, it is impossible to eat traditional foods in the city. There is one resort about 45 minutes drive from the city that offers traditional foods (buffet lunch) a couple of days during the week. But the food was not that great. I do not recommend the lengthy drive.
The International airport is interesting. I am not certain, but I think that there are only 2 flights per day to Johannesburg. Not a major international airport.
Room Tip: I think that the city view rooms are more enjoyable
