This is a place to meet others, but has a capatilist heart. The staff are overworked and undervalued, the women are spoken to terribly and treated worse, there is a fat old guy (owners uncle) smoking constantly whilst he shouts at staff and customers alike. The food may offer a welcome diversion to street food but once you have tasted one item from the menu you have tasted them all!! This place has a shabby 70's porn feel to it and the majority of rooms would be considered hostel accomodation at best. It is definitley not shabby sheek and epitomises all the crudeness of a philosophy that values your wallet more than your person. If you want your money to stay in Ghana and beleive in sustainable and ethical economy do not spend here, however if you want to support systematic violations of human rights and abuse of women stay a month. In short it is seedy, exploitative and embarassing that it continues to live. One positive for the place is the air conditioning and lebanese coffee was good, if you dont mind sporadic and lengthy service times. Overheard conversations include "I'm glad the police hit the guy, I bet he got a good kicking once outside the bar" "your nothing but a f***ing prostitute" fat smoky guy to gorgeous exploited young waitress. The choice is yours!

Perfect place to stay : excellent location, very good food and cocktails, and mostly nice atmosphere : a perfect combination !

I stayed at Byblos for seven nights while I was in Accra for a business conference. I didn't care to leave the premise for anything aside from the meetings which I went to during the day.

I was so pleased with the value of the hotel. The room was clean and cool, the staff was helpful, the bedroom and bathroom were spacious....the location, outstanding!

My colleages stayed at another hotel in the city and couldn't help but join me every night for a cold beer, or two on the outside patio of Venus, Byblos' restaurant, where we could sit in the shade, discuss business for a while, and soon settle into the relaxed environment of Ghana, which Venus captures so well. The evenings become busy with locals, for the delicious, mostly Lebanese food, or a cocktail.

I was sad to leave, and am already looking forward to whenever work pulls me back to Accra.

I would recommend this hotel and restaurant to everyone.

Despite a nice looking courtyard, above average restaurant and some good reviews, I was very disappointed with this place. I was shown my room - it was terrible and very old, shabby and run down.

There are much better hotels in area for similar price.
