The hotel is a mix of kitsch and nice features. Rooms are nice and clean, but the leopard spotted bedspreads are terrible ! On the whole, I found it expensive for what is the offer.

The Leopol is definitely a nice all around place to stay. They have two restaurants, one that serves western style foods and traditional Ethiopian foods, and one on the top floor that serves pretty good Indian and Chinese food. The staff was great and rooms were pretty average. They have free LAN line internet in the rooms which was decent for that part the world. They are also conveniently located near a large supermarket and not too far away from the airport.

DeLeopol's greatest asset is its professional and courteous staff. General manager, front desk, restaurant, cleaning, and front gate staff are all very friendly and approacheable. As of March 2009, least expensive room (studio) approximately USD 60.

Upside:
-Internet access is available in all rooms, and included in price of room.
-Rooms are clean, comfortable, and have balcony
-Location is Urael, which is walking distance from meskel square and a number of coffee shops and cafes. Very short ride from Bole road and short taxi to Airport.
-For Addis, a good middle of the road bargain for price-concious travellers.
-Modest breakfast included in price of room.
-Very good Indian restaurant located on top floor
-Visa and mastercard accepted, though at a commission.
-Flexible and accomdating management/staff

Downside:
-Internet connection is not consistent. This is perhaps a National Telecom problem and not the Hotel's fault.
-Only one elevator. Can be a traffic problem at peak times of day.
-Restaurant service can be slow and personnel not always attentive to details. Often breakfast has numerous staff but they seem to stand around instead of consistently clearing tables or making sure that sugar and cutlery are available
-No fitness center or swimming pool.

This was my 2nd stay in four months. I plan on staying here on future visits to Addis Ababa.
