“Avoid at all costs”

Where to start!
1:It seams the staff dont understand the concept of air-conditioning, I tried to explain it cools the air in a room and doors/windows need to be closed for it to work correctly. They insisted the wind helps it.
2: No kitchen facilities, when we asked for food on the first day it took about 2 hours to make a steak and chips, which was horrific! I mistakenly looked in to the kitchen and all I could see was a tiled room with a tap and a stack of filthy ''clean plates''. there was a cat running round and the veg was just left on the side covered in fly's. We had no choice at times to eat here because of cash flow. Had loads of money ''just could not get it out of the banks''. All three of us staying there had some sort of illness such as Diarrhea at one point.
3: Pool was used as the local community pool with swimming lessons for screaming kids and some sort of aqua aerobics for the elderly, who swim fully clothed for some strange reason? prehaps to wash at the same time. Pool was also filthy and not correctly maintained.
4: It smelt of raw sewage every time the sea went out - probably due to the fact the locals went out to relieve themselves hoping the tide would carry it away. And I had a see view (how lucky was I)
5: Rooms electrical was a death trap, plug sockets hanging off and no controls for air-con. whenever it rained the water came flooding in to the room from the balcony, and tracked along cables back in to the room and dripped over the air-con and TV.
6:electricity was from an old generator that broke-down constantly and the internet failed at least once every 20 minutes. The hotel staff had no idea how to fix it - i witnessed a few times trying cables in different sockets and unplugging phone lines, I had to tell them that leaving it outdoors in the sun was making it overheat.
5: no hot water anywhere in the hotel. not even the kitchen for cleaning.
6: really expensive!!! there prices were the same as the Sheraton for food, I refused to sign for food a few times because it made us ill. The Sheraton and other hotels were full ''so if your thinking why did we stay here we had no choice! it was a bout $5 for a plate of chips and $20 for a steak. Worst meet ever though! really bad quality.

I could go on but I think you should have the general picture by now. I will post some pictures also.

Room Tip: Use the Sheriton its far better quality, you pay a bit more but being able to eat without the fear o...

“Filthy”

If you are looking for a filthy, noisy and unsafe place La Siesta if the hotel for you! Staff is unfriendly and unprofessional. Hair on the bed, filthy sheets and pillow case. The ocean close by stinks and is dirty and polluted. What more..?? The pool is a gutter!!! All this for 97 US Dollars! A place to avoid. Try Residence d'Europe instead, in the city centre.

“Not Great”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 February 2011

Unfortunately most of the decent hotels in Djibouti were full so we were placed in this one.

The rooms were very basic and looking very tired. The shower was like a trickle and there was no running hot water.

The bedding was very old and worn, The sheets didn't fit well.

Room did have A/C and now has free WiFi.

Only ate breakfast in the hotel, it was only a small selection. Coffee pots looked very old and dirty.

“What a rip-off”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 June 2010

I wanted to stay here because I was looking for alternatives to the Kempinski, which is a great hotel but rather pricey. I really would like to say something nice about this place, but can only say that I am glad the room had air conditioning.

The hotel is desparately outdated. The pool water was green. The pool bar was non-existant. The photos of the hotel are deceptive because this place is run-down.

The room was not clean. The floor was filthy, the bed was old. The sheets appeared to be clean, but too small for the bed.

The shower...well, its a tap with very little water coming out of it. Really disappointing after a long flight. The toilet was gross, but the rest of the bathroom was at least clean.

My room was on the 3rd floor, and no elevator. The breakfast was a real disappointment. It was some bread and jam. My colleage asked for something else and we were able to get Corn Flakes. But, so many flys landed on/in my cereal bowl that I stopped eating.

I don't know why they think they can charge 97USD/night for this place. But, there really isn't anything else except for the more expensive Kempinski, which is such a nice place. If you can afford not to stay here, I would recommend the Kempinski and not this crap-hole.

The service was excellent and the price was right. Can't complain about the simming pool. This hotel rates high above other local hotels when it comes to cleanliness.
