“Excellent hotel with top-class management team!”

This is my 4th time staying at Kempinksi N’Djamena hotel (previous stays lasted from 3 to 7 days). If you care about quality services, great food, clean rooms with AC, Wi-Fi internet, access to ATM machine and other amenities, you will not even think twice before choosing Kempinski.

Everything here is done with a smile and personal touch coming from the management team, who make you feel pampered with care and right amount of attention.

Thank you guys for going all extra miles necessary to be the hotel of top choice, my choice!

“After more than a year in Chad...without doubt the Best in NDjamena!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 June 2010

Having stayed in Chad for almost 1.5 years, Kempinski is easily the best hotel in Chad. Stayed at all three main hotels in NDjamena - Meridian, Novatel and Kempinski. Kempinski is easily the best! Staff is friendly, courteous and goes out of their way to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible. The management is top-notch. All managers take a personal interest and very involved with your stay. Having been all over Africa, travelers need to understand...this is Chad. All of Chad experiences power shortages, water issues, severe weather, etc. The hotel doesn’t control the power but did everything in their means to ensure the power situation was alleviated. Never had water issues. Never had food issues.
Rooms are very clean and open. If its not in the room...its a simple phone call away to get what you need. Yes food takes time...but its because its being prepared as you order...not pre-made. Considering the food choices in NDjamena...its worth the wait! Pool is clean and yes its cold...but consider the outside temperature is 45C+ and its a welcome change. Hotel has an ATM in the lobby (one of only 5 in all of Chad), when I left, the hotel takes ALL credit cards including VISA and AMEX.
Hotel is reasonably priced considering all of NDjamena is expensive. Its not the hotel driving the prices...its the economy of the area! You do get what you pay for...trust me...you could find yourself in an outdated, insecure, very dirty hotel somewhere else in NDjamena.
Overall, great experience and only place to stay! Clean, great food, incredible security, and outstanding staff. Thanks Najib, Amjad, Phil, Alan, Chef and all the staff for a great stay!

John D

“High cost for poor service!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 February 2010

I stayed in the Kempinski for 3 days. Initially excited, as I have stayed in some very nice Kempinski hotels before, I was quickly disappointed. The room was spacious and clean, but lacked an iron/ironing board, coffee maker, internet connection, and the "mini-bar" was an empty refrigerator. I called for someone to send me an iron, and the front desk told me that someone would iron my clothes for free. The next day, I finally tracked down my clothes after some confusion, and received a 17,500 CFA bill (roughly 36 USD). Everything in the hotel was outlandishly priced, the food, the drinks, the internet connection in the lobby. Service was very poor. The wait staff in the restaurant will literally ignore you. If you do get some service, expect at least an hour for food or beverage to arrive. Even at the bar, my colleagues and I were some of the very few people there, and we had to continually track down a waitress. Also, be watchful of the bills. Twice our check was incorrect and we might have paid for plenty that we did not buy. Overall, the hotel was a poor experience and not representative of the Kempinski brand.

“Deceptive and definitely not a 5 star hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2010

Used this hotels facilities for three days from 5th to 8th of february. I have to admit did not stay in the rooms but used all other hotel facilities during our visit. As previously stated this hotel only accepts cash or American Express. There is no ATM in the hotel . The lobby and surroundings are very nice and very clean. staff are among the worst I've ever met. We waited an hour and a half for a burger and some chips. Speed is defiunitely not of the essence in this hotel. The pool is very nice but freezing cold despite the heat of the day. The hotel bar is well stocked but as previously stated again we had most of our drinks by candlelight as the power goes down same time every night ( that is of course when you can get service). It''s not that there isn't sufficient staff, they just don't seem to either understand the concept of service or want to provide service. Stayed at the Novotel just 5 minutes from the airport. Better just because it's closer to the airport..again abysmal service. It is Chad after all but rteally no excuse. Avoid if you can

Dear Flynnic,

thank you very much for your review and the chance to improve our service for you.
We are happy that you liked the "hardware" and the garden of the hotel - thank you for your statements.

Please be assured that we are sorry for letting you wait for that unacceptable length of time in our hotel.
At this particular period on beginning of February we had a large group of guests on our pool and were not well prepared, as a result on the long waiting times we opened our new pool side bar OASIS with full equipment to answer the requests directly poolside and take so the pressure from all other restaurant outlets.
To avoid the daily power cuts (as we have to change to generator supply every day, when the local power supply cuts their supply) we are working on a solution with an automatic switch to cover the period, we hope that we will succeed in this soon.
The ATM machine is finally installed and working, located next to the reception.

We are keep on training our staff to offer a relaxing stay and have happy guests.

Please accept kind regards from the management team and we all hope you give as a chance to improve your impression.

Thanks again for your words and kind regards

“An oasis in the dessert”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2009

Second trip to N'Djamena. Have been to all 3 major hotels in the city, stayed at the Novotel during my previous trip. (A good 2* in comparision).
OK, the Kempinski is a little outside the "city centre", like a 15 minute drive. But once you enter the Lobby, you feel lke being in a real hotel. Huge entrance hall, cosy lobby bar. Restaurant is very clean, although giving you a bit of a railway station restaurant feeling. Sunday's brunch definetely the best buffet in town. Rooms are specious, nicely decorated, international 4* standard. Garden with a nicely designed swimming pool and a second bar.OK, wireless internet is avaible. But unfortunally at additional cost and with a non satisfying coverage.
A very big plus, compared with other hotels in town, is the language skills of the staff. You get around with English quite well.
And whenever you face a problem, just ask for Philip, the German-Ethopian Assistant Director of Sales and Marketing. He is always around and will solve any problem with a bright smile.
