“Nice view but not really comfortable”

Victoria Falls Safari Lodge
++ View of the savanna and the watering hole with wild animals
++ Lizards on porch
++ Washcloths (rare in hotels)
++ Shower stall and bathtub
++ Electronic safe in room
++ Wifi in lounge (not room though) $5 for 80Mbytes download
00 bathroom showing its age
00 must lock balcony to avoid monkey or baboon invasion, real damage possible
00 two pillows on bed
-- Not enough electrical outlets, needed borrow cord to run a CPAP
-- No newspaper, microwave, refrigerator, clock, television
-- Malaria area, you need drugs and sleep with mosquito netting. That adds a whole layer of complication for whatever else you do. It adds more complexity to using a CPAP
-- Room is dark in color and illumination, steps hard to see
-- Room attracts insects over night; leave water in a glass and it will have insects in it in the morning.

Dear Mark,

Thank you for your comments recently posted on tripadvisor.
With regards the following:
Showers: these we are aware of and are working on as we speak
Pillows: there are additional pillow in the cupboard, we will gladly supply additional on request
Sockets: point noted, thank you, if we had been pre warned, we could have made sure this matter was dealt with.
Balcony wildlife: fully aware of this, though this is their area, however we do try to keep them away.
Re, the newpaper, microwave & fridge, these are not advertised on our fact sheet.
Re the illumination, we recently had an engineer to come and assess what how we can improve on our lighting across the resort.
Re the insects, these unfortuantely flourish in January once the early rains start, however house keeping do spray the rooms at turn down.
Thank you once again for all your constructive comments, these have duely noted and communicated to the team.
Kind regards,
Jonathan Hudson

“Overall nice place”

Stayed here and Ilala during our trip. It is a fairly unique place with the restaurant overlooking a watering hole used by a variety of animals. The sunset from the deck is amazing. I think this was a better place than Ilala. I thought the food was better and the rooms were similar in quality. One advantage is that our bed had a mosquito net and Ilala did not. The only real negative about this place is that it is a 5-10 minute drive from town, but this isn't a such a huge deal. The staff were all courteous and helpful. The breakfast is very nice. I would stay here again.

“Very average experience unfortunately”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Location is descent and rooms are spacious but what this hotel really lacks is attention to detail. Staff is unattentive and there is a genuine feeling that you are bothering them when asked to do something as simple as bring down a few towels to the poolside area, which mind you took four times and over an hour to finally be done. Just not a five or even four star experience. Note they are adding rooms so construction may be overbearing in the months to come.

Dear Austin,

I would like to thank you for the reveiw that has just been posted, I must apoligise for this poor attention to detail around the pool area, thank you for bringing this to our attention as nothing had been brought to either the attention of guest services or the duty manager. This matter has been dealt with.
However we do hope that you enjoyed the rest of your stay.
Kind regards,
Jonathan Hudson

“magical summer evening.... January 2012”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

One evening a wonderful Thunderstorm with a lightning that lit up the sky broke out. We were seated in the restaurant where a yellow glowing light illuminated the watering hole before the storm. But with the lightning, the experience was surreal, and a crowd gathered in the restaurant and actually applauded the lightning storm. I'm not sure everyone agreed on who they were applauding for, the Lord of the Lightning, or mother nature? But, it was an incredible memory in the midst of a much needed January rain storm, and the glowing sky. I wanted the night to last forever.

“Good location and facilities”

Waking up with the monkeys in the veranda was funny. Views are good, with animals coming to drink from the waterhole.
