“Luxury & Style”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011

The Rainbow Towers is a luxurious, well located and wonderful hotel. There are a choice of restaurants, as well as excellent in-room dining - which is excellent value for money. The staff are professional, friendly and warm, and the accommodation is outstanding - with all the modern facilities and internet connection. Excellent!!! The beds were the most comfortable we have ever experienced, and the linens and amenities were of exceptional quality. The VIP lounge on the 15th floor is excellent and the food is outstanding.

Room Tip: The luxury rooms are well worth the extra expense - stay above the 15th floor!

“Central and tired hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

If you are expecting 1st world 5 stars, stay somewhere else (where?), otherwise this hotel is fine. The room is spacious and although the shower is a little small, the bathroom is OK. The hotel must have been built about 1985, and little has changed since then, with some of the fittings looking tired. The bed was clean and comfortable and as I was on the 12th floor, the room was quiet even with the window open. The aircon did not work. Breakfast was a fairly good spread, although one would expect that for US$25.00. We did not eat dinner at the hotel. The staff were very helpful in getting my international Visa card to be accepted. (They only take Visa).

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a renovated room. The hotel only accepts Visa cards.

“Convenience is key at this hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

If you are attending a conference or convention at the adjoining facility, this makes a good place to stay. Rooms are large and comfortable although the property is showing its age. Far larger than European rooms and on par with typical American hotels, the rooms offer a decent work surface as well as an easy chair and an adequate number of outlets to recharge your electrical devices. Outlets are typical 220v two round pin types - found throughout Africa.

Internet was available in the rooms as well as in the lobbies...most of the time. Spent four nights there last month and only had Internet three evenings. Service was slow, but I was able to upload some photos to Facebook without any issues.

The bathroom is also spacious, with the exception of the shower which is cleverly installed behind the bathroom door and of most modest dimensions. The bath had a separate spray unit for rinsing that needed to have its washers replaced as it sprayed in every direction when used.

On the lobby level of the hotel were two restaurants. The larger was a buffet style restaurant with plenty of choices. Service was slow, but most of the time you were getting your own food, so it didn't matter. Waiting for drinks was a ten minute deal at most times.

75% of the staff I encountered were quite friendly and helpful, with the remaining 25% seemingly waiting for the end of their shift, so they could go home.

Handicap guests can get in the lobby and up to the rooms without assistance, however everywhere else in the hotel would be a challenge. There are a couple steps involved to get to just about everything else (two restaurants, bar, conference center,)

Overall, I had a good experience at the hotel and for the right price, I would return again.

“Got used to it”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

I stayed at the Rainbow Towers for 20 days and well, it was not a disappointment because I had read reviews and from the beginning, the hotel's tired outlook was obvious.

Still, the food was okay, esp the Japanese restaurant while the service was slow but fine with my standard.

Whether or not I will stay there again is a different question but for the hotel should get better next time I go.

Otherwise I will be disappointed.

“Worst service in the world”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2011

Rainbow Towers has got to have the worst service I've ever experienced for a "4 star" hotel. Management is inefficient and unreliable. It's for this reason that Zimbabwe cannot progress in anything, especially their tourism and hospiltality industries, because you have a bunch of useless goons running the show. Noone ever replies to emails and when they say they will get back to you, you'll be holding your breathe for a very long time. I was scheduled to have a wedding there next year, everything was arranged and confirmed only to find out a few months down the track that the cost of the venue had increased by not hundreds, but thousands and they were not going to honour anything they had promised me a couple of months back. Also, you'll get different answers from different people as to how much a room costs. I was prepared to have my entire wedding party stay at the hotel as well have a wedding there, provided they followed through with what they had promised, eg cost. They weren't interested in compromising and lost out on a lot of business. They cause me a lot of stress as I have now had to look for an alternate wedding venue, and don't have much time!! Rainbow Towers you should be shut down!!!
