I enjoyed my stay in Holiday Inn Harare from the day I landed and checked into the hotel. Thanks for your freindly staff and God bless you
For the country standards, this Hotel is good. Rooms are clean, friendly staff.
Good thing, there is a restaurant downstairs and also a Spur (much cheaper). Breakfast is a little expensive. In case it is better to go on the other side of the street to go and buy what to eat. Local phone calls expensive (10$ a mn). Wifi connection good and complementary.
I came to the Harare Holiday Inn after a very pleasant night in the Gaborone Sun Hotel in Botswana. I was prepared for a slight let down, and this is exactly what happened.
The main problem I had was with the security. Not at the hotel (which was fine) but my data security. I had booked an airport pick-up through the hotel. Arrived at Harare Airport and there was a guy with a Holiday Inn sign with my name on it. Went outside, whilst he went to collect his car. At that point, someone else came up to me with a Holiday Inn sign with my name on it. The result was a full-blown argument in the airport (which eventually involved the police) between the two drivers. Anyway, it turned out that one of the front desk staff had sold my name + arrival details to another driver instead of the official Holiday Inn driver. Not good.
Problems continued at check in. I had booked the hotel through Expedia, and had a full confirmation. However, it transpired that Expedia's credit card had been declined, so I had to spend a good couple of hours the next day acting as the go-between for the Hotel and Expedia (note - this was absolutely not the fault of the hotel, but didn't make my stay any more pleasant)
The rooms were fine, there is a great steak restaurant attached to the hotel, and there was entertainment in the bar every night. The staff were very nice, and gave good tips on things to see an do during my four-night stay.
Overall average, but could have been better given the issues listed above.
It's a nice hotel.
Except Wi-Fi access service.
Caution!
Pined point of tripAD's map is completely wrong.
