“gem of a hotel”

Very friendly and accommodating staff who are tri-lingual or more. Room were very clean and comfortable.

Do bring an electrical adapter, room clock and iron as hotel does not supply them nor do they take amex or travelers checks.

Breakfast buffet is great, but their 6:00 am opening is nothing to set your watch by. Dinner menu is diverse and extremely flavorful. Their service is top rate.

Safety: traveling alone, I walked the streets without fear or angst; even in the evening.

Location: Grocery store within 100 yards. Very near the Medina and shopping along the streets is as plentiful as the cafe's. Tunisians are very smart and friendly. Americans are liked and welcomed- as it gives them the opportunity to practice their English. Food outside of the hotel was plentiful and tasty. Dollars are not readily accepted, but the euro is welcomed. The American dollar is worth 1.40 dinars, so our money buys more.

GO VISIT! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.

“Decent stay but expected more for the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2010

At first glance, Tunisia Palace has several pluses. The location is excellent right between the medina and the new town. The breakfast is basic but decent, and my second room was quite nice with a view of the boulevard below. (I had requested a room with a view and arrived to a ground floor room with a window facing a lightwell...Once I asked, I was moved to the better room the following day). The biggest plus of the hotel for me was the helpful young woman at the front desk. She was consistently pleasant and very helpful with guidance for all my questions. The rest of the service was hit or miss. When I made my reservation, I sent several emails asking if the hotel could pick me up at the airport but no one ever got back to me. Using the "business center" was also a challenge. That was a tiny room with an old computer and printer on the top floor. The problem was that it was often unavailable with a locked door and no one knowing where the key was. When it was open, I had to cross a large conference room in complete darkness, feeling my way through the room to the business center, since there were no light switches in the conference room. In addition, there was a misunderstanding when I booked an expensive day trip to Bulla Regia and Dougga, which I had understood to include Le Kef. When the driver arrived he would not go to Le Kef. Based on this experience, I would strongly recommend you check with one of many travel agencies in Tunis first before booking an expensive trip with the hotel.

“Great location, average service”

Location is perfect for sightseeing in Tunis, right next to the medina. Rooms are nice with a little balcony. Good soundproofing from street noise. Free high speed internet connection in room and wireless in lobby. The staff appeared to be somewhat dis-interested in customer sevice as is often the case in Tunisia. The in-house restaurant is extremely over-priced, but luckily there are plenty of others to choose from nearby.
The breakfast which was included was ok. Nice coffee and freshly squeezed juice, as well as the basic eggs, croissants, cheese and yogurt.

“Very Good Value.”

I have just spent four nights at this hotel and have been very comfortable. They have been very friendly and the service has been quietly efficient. A fruit basket on arrival was a nice touch but it was the helpfulness of the staff that I liked. The desk staff helped me and even let me use their computer to printout my flight details. The chambermaid put roses on my pillow one day, sweets the next etc. The wait staff were friendly and helpful and dinner in the restaurant was consistently lively. It's position next to the Medina is superb. I was very comfortable there.

“Very good location”

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights in March 2008. The overall quality of the hotel is very good. It is a good base to explore from, a couple of steps from the old city and it is about 10 mins walk to the train station where you can easily travel to the main attractions close to Tunis e.g. Carthage and Sidi Bou Said. We would stay here again.
