“Pictures are deceiving, but we would stay again”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

I stayed in this hotel for two nights with My husband a week before Christmas 2011. We choose this hotel because it it fairly close to Tunis Carthage Airport and the pictures looked quite appealing.
Checking in was quick and easy and the staff were very pleasant and welcoming. We were shown our room on the first floor, there are no lifts in this hotel as it is quite small, however the concierge was there to help with our luggage.

Room
Our room was clean and fresh however I must say the room pictures on various booking websites are deceiving, the rooms are not as luxurious as they appear in the pictures you see. There are very basic, tiled floor, desk, TV and large bed and no balcony, the beds were not dressed up just basic clean white sheets, and there rooms which show seating are suites. This didn't bother us as we were only there for a couple of nights and were out of the hotel during the day so we were just happy that it was clean and our belongings stayed secure.

We went into the Hotel Bar once for a coffee so can't really comment on that. We only booked B&B thinking that there would be places near by to eat .... theres not, the hotel is just off a main road with a football training pitch behind it (don't let this put you off as it is not noisy) you do need a taxi to go anywhere, taxi's easy to grab outside hotel.

Restaurant
We had dinner in the hotel restaurant, the menu is quite limited but not too bad. I had a pizza on the first night costing 10.5 TND (about £5) and my Husband (who is Tunisian) had a Tunisian dish 'Ojji' which I think was around 6 TND. Drink prices were average for Tunisian hotel.
Breakfast was buffet style, not a great selection as the hotel did not appear at all busy. There was cereal, croissants, danish pastries, salami, cheese and bread, boiled eggs.

The hotel reception were very helpful when I needed to print a document that was on my laptop, they let me print it on their reception print at no cost.

Throughout the staff were very friendly and made us feel relaxed.

I would stay at this hotel again as compared to another Hotel we have stayed in, in Tunis 5 weeks later, it makes this seem like paradise!

I would recommend this hotel, however please be aware of the deceiving photos, everything else looks about the same it is just the room photos that are not. If you don't have high expectations of the rooms then you won't be disappointed.

“Affordable Tunisia”

I actually stayed at the hotel in June 2009 traveling from Paris to Tunis on a side trip. Hotel Du Parc is located about a 15 minute taxi ride from the airport and a 20 minute walk from the center of downtown. It is located in an area with several other hotels, and about 10 minutes walk to a major park. Our package was booked with airfare, hotel, and breakfast buffet included, which was ample.

Du Parc is a well maintained modern hotel on a main thoroughfare into downtown. Security guards the front entrance gates at night, so we felt safe. There is a pleasant lobby, bar, and restaurant open during normal hours, and outdoor lounging on the patio when it's not too hot. You can book tours from the front desk that are moderately priced and staff were helpful and friendly.

A free buffet breakfast was a part of my package, and it was also nice that the bar serves complimentary snacks with drinks. Great location with proximity to downtown, and within walking distance.

Room Tip: There is no elevator and if you are carrying many bags, opt for a lower floor.

“Basic hotel if you MUST go to Tunis”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2010

We stayed twice at the Hotel du Parc on the front and back end of a trip. The hotel is located out of the downtown area. We did walk back from town most days but there is a metro station Mohammed V about a block a way.

That said, take a taxi. We got robbed twice. Once was on the street from the hotel leading to the metro, the second time was on the metro itself. The trams are extremely crowded and people are not friendly.

The rooms at the hotel were furnished in a spartan manner but were clean. Our first room had a shower enclosure, the second room only a shower curtain around a shower head. The TV had no English channels. Even CNN was dubbed to French. We did eat at the hotel restaurant most nights as we were not anxius to walk around the neighborhood at night. The food was acceptable and very reasonably priced.

The hotel had a bar which kept irregular hours and even when open the bartender disappeared for long periods of time.

Breakfast buffet was very varied...unfortunately many of the dishes were not kept warm and appeared to be left over from other meals. I ended up with a mild case of food poisonning i suspect was from the breakfast buffet.

There is a Carrefour supermarket not far from the hotel but they did not sell wine. The only place we could buy wine was the magasin General downtown

If you have to go to Tunis, this is an acceptable hotel but you couldn't get me back there on a free trip. This was the 26th country I have visited and it was the absolute worst.

“Never judge a book by its cover”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2010

Like the majority of hotels in Tunisia from the outside they appear quite appealing to the eye, once one steps inside the Hotel du Parc the entry way is clean and spacious with a moderately luxurious feel to it, leading one to think that the rooms will be of similar standard. Before checking into this hotel I read numerous reviews and viewed many pictures of the rooms (the pictures of the rooms are misleading). After having had to wait nearly 40 minutes for the room and just wanting to have a shower and sleep for a few hours I was disgusted with the conditions in which I found the bathroom. The shower is comprised of a cheap corrugated plastic door and the space inside makes it impossible to maneuver one's self effectively in order to have a shower. The toilet seat is made from a flimsy plastic and there is also the added luxury of a plastic stool. The towels smelt bizarre as if they had been bleached "x" amount of times and could do with being changed. I went back to the reception and requested to see a suite but was not impressed with the differences in the rooms apart from the size, and have to say that the bath tub in the suite was screaming for some CIF or preferably a replacement. After having finally accepted my dilemma of being tired and wanting to get some sleep I climbed into bed, with regards to the bed itself, bedding was a simple single sheet with an extremely coarse and itchy over throw. I had requested a double bed and was given two beds which had been pushed together, the noise levels were intolerable, banging, poor noise isolation from outside the room with regards to other guests and not to mention the fact that there are several stadiums right outside the bedroom with people playing football all day. The location of the hotel is a good 15 minutes walk to the town center. The television did not work correctly overall I would say the room had a very cheap plastic feel to it and I have to say I have stayed in nicer youth hostels than this hotel! However keeping an open mind the gentleman at the reception was very friendly, apart from that I unfortunately can not say anything positive about the hotel, luckily I only booked 2 nights here.

“Nice Hotel, would stay again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2010

This hotel takes you through 3 phases. Firstly, there is jubilation at the flashy exterior, then a sinking feeling as you realise the inside is a bit 1970s. Once you get over it, you find your room is spacious, clean and comfortable. Or I did anyway. In addition, the breakfast is excellent, with a variety of options and I also found the restaurant to be excellent on an evening, although the quality of the food seems to vary according to the chef - One day my "treasury of seafood" was a magnificent mix of whole fish, clams, octopus and squid lying on moroccan-style flatbreads, another day it was chips with a load of octopus of prawns. Both tasted nice, but it was interesting.....

The staff are generally very helpful and many of them speak English. I also enjoyed the way breakfast and dinner seemed to be quiet, plus there is a nice outside sitting area around the back.

Internet access is FREE. A major bonus for most of us these days.

Price is good and compares well with lesser hotels in the real centre. overall, I'd happily stay again.
