Booked a three night stay based upon information that stated the hotel was "conveniently located" in the city center. The purpose of trip to Tunis was to visit the North Africa American Memorial and Cemetary. Yes, the hotel is centrally located....equidistant to anything that a tourist might wish to see. The hotel was a huge disappointment. The room was large, but in poor repair and not clean. There was one bedspread for two beds. The sheets were old and paper thin. The two small towels in the bathroom were old, dingy, and frayed. Front desk staff were courteous, but language became a problem when you wanted something "extra" like clean towels after two days. The food in the hotel dining room was of poor quality. The best place to eat was in the bar area where, if you purchased a beverage, they would give you all the olives, cubed cheese, and chunked bologna (?) you could hold. There is some sort of government building on the opposite corner from the hotel which is surrounded by a wrought iron fence and has armed guards with machine guns constantly patrolling. A little off-putting. It is best to take a cab to any destination if safety is a priority for you even thought the cab drivers feel compelled to use ALL the lanes at great speed when getting you to your destination. Women should definately never walk around the neighborhood near the hotel unaccompanied. Most people will feel more relaxed on their visit to Tunis if they select a hotel which caters to more European and Western tastes. We could never recommend this hotel to anyone!
