“Huge disappointment!!!”

Booked a three night stay based upon information that stated the hotel was "conveniently located" in the city center. The purpose of trip to Tunis was to visit the North Africa American Memorial and Cemetary. Yes, the hotel is centrally located....equidistant to anything that a tourist might wish to see. The hotel was a huge disappointment. The room was large, but in poor repair and not clean. There was one bedspread for two beds. The sheets were old and paper thin. The two small towels in the bathroom were old, dingy, and frayed. Front desk staff were courteous, but language became a problem when you wanted something "extra" like clean towels after two days. The food in the hotel dining room was of poor quality. The best place to eat was in the bar area where, if you purchased a beverage, they would give you all the olives, cubed cheese, and chunked bologna (?) you could hold. There is some sort of government building on the opposite corner from the hotel which is surrounded by a wrought iron fence and has armed guards with machine guns constantly patrolling. A little off-putting. It is best to take a cab to any destination if safety is a priority for you even thought the cab drivers feel compelled to use ALL the lanes at great speed when getting you to your destination. Women should definately never walk around the neighborhood near the hotel unaccompanied. Most people will feel more relaxed on their visit to Tunis if they select a hotel which caters to more European and Western tastes. We could never recommend this hotel to anyone!

ibn khaldoun is terrible. Even for the hardenned traveller. The staff are rude and unhelpful (except the plesant lady in the restaurant)..the room was very dirty, with at least a months dust and muck on the carpet which was splattered with paint.

The room was small, the bathroom smelly, towels were falling apart they were so old.

The reception staff were arrogant and rude.

I would advise noone to stay here.

“ok for a few nights”

we wanted a cheap hotel in the centre of Tunis for 6 nights. This hotel is 10 mins for the centre, not a nice area but close to supermarkets if needed.

Reception staff were miserable and unhelpful so we didnt bother them further.

The hotel was basic but very clean. The room was large and clean and bathroom clean. Cleaning staff very helpful.

Breakfast was basic and the tables not very clean but staff friendly and helpful.

Overall this hotel is a basic, clean hotel and good value for money. If you are looking for a hotel in the centre of tunis and are not looking for any luxuries this is the hotel for you.

I would recommend this hotel for business travellers .

“A hotel for the Business Traveller and the one who wants to be town.”

If you are interested in a value for money cheap and clean hotel in Tunis then Ibn Khaldoun is your hotel.

Location:
Not in the most attractive area of Tunis but this is not a hotel for relaxation. No garden - no pool. This is a good hotel for the traveller who wishes to stay in Tunis and do all the city has to offer. Excellent value for the business traveller.

A 10-15 minute walking to the centre where the main Market is and where the boulevard with the major hotel El Hana International is located. However, it is behind the newly open Gallery Lafayette where modern coffee shops, supermarket and bank teller machines that accept visa and MasterCard are available.

Room:
Clean and tidy with good air-conditioning system (important for Tunesia climate) but hot water may become lukewarm the higher floor your room is!

Breakfast:
Nothing to die for, but value for money as it is included in your bed night price. 3 choices of fruits, 2 choices of juices, 2 types of cheeses (not of good quality), choice of eggs, bread and ham.
