“Not 5*”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2010

I always go for international brands when staying in cities I've never been to, but in Tunis there are not many choices. Laico is apparently a Libyan chain, but it has little in common with Hilton, InterContinental or Accor...

The hotel looks grand, but in the rooms the furniture and everything else is old and tired. Nothing stands out (food, service, location...) but the price is that of a 5* hotel.

Next time I guess I'll go somewhere else.

“This Is Not A 3 Star Hotel, Treat People In Wheelchairs Terrible”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 April 2010

Im not a picky person when i stay at hotels, and would take alot for me
to write anything bad about somewhere but my experience here was not
a happy one.... staff on the reception look down there nose at you and
are versy sarcastic, man serving drinks at the pool was on slow mode
was the only couple sat there and took him over 40 mins to get you a
drink, wasnt like i asked for a cocktail, was just a coke.... staff dont hold
a door open when they have just walked through instead slam it behind
them even tho you are about to walk in or in my case pushed in as i was
in a wheel chair... everyone made me feel very uncomfortable except for
the man who collected our luggage and a few in the restaurant who did
make us feel welcome.... reason for the stay in this hotel was i was wanting
somewhere easy to get around and thought by going into a 5 star hotel
i would get this.... but instead was disapointed i would class this hotel as
a 3 star at a push....our balcony was covered in dead bugs and they where
still there 2 weeks later up till the time we left and i never seen the pool get
cleaned once, a little boy from another family was in the indoor pool and
got out because he got a mouth full of someones hair in his mouth,, how
discusting, and the mother was brought to tears when she was treated
badly when she went for her hair cut and massage... we did complain
about it but like everything there i just got a smile and nothing was done
about it...i felt very let down, this hotel could be much better. they seem
in no rush slow slow and very slow. GOOD MANNERS AND A SMILE CAN GO ALONG WAY..

“Lovely hotel - slightly bad tempered staff but a good experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2009

We stayed in the Laico Tunis for eight days and had a lovely stay. The hotel was very clean, with the rooms turned over twice a day. It was barely a 10-15 minute walk to the centre of Tunis and close to the train station to go to Carthage.

The pool was clean and for the most part empty, breakfast was very good. The staff were slightly grouchy, but as they hadn't eaten since early that morning we can forgive them for that.

Hotel and services there were expensive, but as it was a business hotel we expected that.
