“Overpriced with poor service, small rooms and dated infra”

If it could go wrong, in terms of service and hospitality, it certainly did. A few of our experiences:

- Lost reservation
- Stolen car wheel cover for our Nissan Patrol
- Mobile phone went mission from room but was recovered
- General manager sshhhushing our kids
- Waiters shooing us from our table to make room for other guest.
- A work out room that was locked with no access for the guest
- A gift store that had closed down
- A matchbox sized room with creaky floors
- No mosquito next although the beds were designed for them
- Lights and water turned off each night to save money
- Buffet food recycled into new dish two times per day

And all this for 600 USD per night for our family!

If you can avoid this place, please do!

“Great Park Great Resort”

Lots of animals to see in this park. Leopards eating some animal in the tree was pretty cool. I had no problems with the resort – it was huge, very nice pool, and eating area. Game drive in the morning, watched some really cool animals around the resort in the afternoon and another game drive in the evening. I would of like to say at this place for a couple of days.

“Pretentious fake luxury”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

We've stayed here for a night while driving through Serengeti. The lodge appears to have experienced (or at least have been build for) better times.

Despite copious amounts of golden plate and intricate wood carvings in the lobby and a large dining area with lots of leather furniture, the comfort level barely reaches that of a modest youth hostel.

At a closer inspection everything is filthy. Flies swarm on the luke warm buffet food. There are no mosquito nets despite abundant mosquitos. Warm water for the shower is available only between 6-9 AM and PM, and they also turn the power off during the night, but in the morning, when the sun is already up, a lot of outdoor lighting is still on. The staff appears miserable and poorly treated. The rooms are tiny and have a stuffy, uncomfortable feeling (windows barely open despite scorching temperatures, but they have heavy, luxurious, air impenetrable and hard to get out of the way curtains), and the bathroom has a 60's flair.

We've spent a truly miserable night here, and attribute part of the stomach upset during the rest of the trip to the lack of basic hygiene in serving (don't want to even think about preparing) the food.

The only plus point is the location (and maybe the general idea behind the architecture of the public areas, which has potential).

Room Tip: Just go to a different lodge.

“One big disappointment!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

We stayed at Seronera for 3 nights. First at the arrival the family traveling with us had a problem with their reservation what took ages to get sorted. The rooms were way smaller than we'd expected. The floors were very squeeeeaky (we had 3 small children with us, so checking on them at night was a very loud process) + nobody at the reception told us that from midnight till 5 am there is absolutely no power and it is pitch-dark. No torches were provided. Rooms had no mosquito nets, no mosquito repellant, no coffee/tea making stand, no minibar, no safe, no hair-drier. Additional to the squeaky floorboards u could hear absolutely every conversation outside the hallway (or next door). Bathroom was very basic. First night we had no hot water and towels were very old and tired. Staff looked overworked and sad. There was just one waiter who gave us and our kids a smile.
Food was ok although the beige chairs in the dining room had turned partially brown from all the handprints and leather on some seats was just ripped...It really shocked me. There is so much more to complain about but I'm going to stop here :)
I did like the bar/lounge, the viewing platform and the pool area. Also having monkeys, lizards and dazzy's all around us, was fun.
We have done many safaris before and this place by far was the worst. It's too bad as it has such a potential to be a superb safari lodge. It sits in an amazing location surrounded by buzzing wildlife. But it seams that the management only relies on that as the tourists are still pouring in.Unfortunately I believe most of them leave disappointed :(

“Great for central Serengeti”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

We really like the location, beautiful view and design of pool and restaurant area. Nicely set into the nature with using of big stones typical for Serengeti´s countryside. Even though the pool is not so big it´s good to have the possibility to strech your body after sitting all day in a car. Rooms are not so great, small, very basic, shower was a problem sometimes and it was very noisy in the room, floor makes noise everytime you stand up and you hear also all noises from other rooms. During the night you can hear hippos from near lake but this is just amazing - all the sounds of wildlife. Staff was OK but too pushy about tips.
