“Wonderful experience”

Our favourite lodge on our safari. Our room had a lovely view over the Serengeti plains and in the morning we woke up to find a dik dik sleeping in front of our balcony. There were a lot of beautiful birds in the grounds, and other wildlife. It is well worth taking the guided tour of the grounds. Relatively near the hotel we saw leopards and there is a large hippo pool about an hours drive away. The views from the pool and the terrace were spectacular. Everything else about the hotel was good, the food, the room, the service and the entertainment. Not fantastic but just good.

“Good for a few nights stay during safari”

Excellent if you consider this is in the middle of Serengeti National park, and safari is the only reason for your stay. Enough everything for relax during safari. However lack of air-conditioning (though understandable as Serena Lodges claim to be eco-hotels) is a huge minus during hot season. The small table fan we had did not save from the night heat, and you cannot open the balcony door, as it overlooks the park, and any animal can wonder in. We were warned by the hotel staff not to do that.
Bathroom is OK but for the fact that there is obviously shortage of water, and the loo does not work properly (all Serena Lodges we visited have the same problem).
Food is edible, but a very limited choice.
Otherwise do not expect anything special from a safari lodge.

Excellent location. The only serena lodge we stayed at where you needed a ranger to take you back to your room at night in case any animals had arrived at your room!

The rooms are arranged in small cottage type blocks with two downstairs and one up. We had a room upstairs and this was excellent. Fantastic views across the park! We sat on our balcony for quite a whole the one night just taking it all in!

the restaurant was good. Big barbecue type grill and buffet arrangement. Seating inside and out. We sat outside all of the time, of an evening you will have bats flying you attracted bynthe lights.

The pool is nice and there are plenty of loungers to chill if you get a chance.

Very nice place to base for the Serengeti.

“Commanding panoramic views across the Serengeti”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

In fairness we arrived late after one of our safari vehicles had broken down and were up early the next morning to go ballooning. So we truly had little time here but I must say you cannot beat the location, the food was wonderful, very different from what we had so far on the trip. The downside was that the rooms that I saw did not share the amazing view of the main lodge area.

“Amazing location, great pool, fantastic views, good value giftshop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

After staying at the Serena lodges at Arusha, Lake Mynyara, and Nogorongoro, we were not expecting to be surprised, but the location, views, infinity pool and overall embience of the lodge in Serengeti were amazing.

The lodges are small with 2-3 rooms each, and blend extremely well with the overall environment. There are no boundary walls for the resort, and antelopes and other animals can come in close proximity. The views of the grasslands from the rooms are fantastic, since the lodge is located on a small hill.

The restaurant had a graet variety of food.

This set the tone for the overall experience in Serengeti. While it does not have the captive zoo like sightings of Ngorongoro, the place has a charm of its own.

We were traveling in a large group of 18 adult/kids, and everyone had a great experience.

Serengeti does have more Tsetse flies than other locations (these bite like mosquitoes). However, the hotel manages this well and is able to control them well.

The final flight out of Serengeti on a small plane, adds to the experience.

Room Tip: Request a room on the outer perimeter since they'll have the best view. They have a few connec...
