I stayed at the Kilimanjaro for 1 night while in transit. It was formerly a Kempinski and seems to be the best place to stay in Dar. Everything was good about this place. It had a comfortable room, a nice bar area with good service, and a good restaurant (we dined at Oriental restaurant). I would recommend this hotel to anyone that needs to be in Dar. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the common areas seem to be due for an update. Not overly due (it’s not from the 70’s or anything), but a preemptive update might serve it well.

Just completed first business trip to Dar es Salaam, and was a little skeptical when I saw the outside of the hotel that it would be outdated (it's an older structure), but could not have been happier with my stay. In every part of the hotel, the staff was friendly and compentent. Room was spacious, well appointed and maintained. Food was terrific and reasonably priced. Loved the gym...modern equipment and everything very clean and meticulously attended to by staff. I highly recommend the hotel.

After spending 3 weeks on a safari and Zanzibar, it was great to find a very modern hotel with modern amenities!

Dar is a very dusty and noisy city. It was great to return to the quietness of the Hyatt. Obviously this is not a hotel where you will experience Tanzania but for a business trip or a break, it is great.

Asian restaurant is very good.

I stayed 3 nights at the Hyatt Kilimanjaro mid December 2011 on business and thoroughly enjoyed my stay! Warm welcome at reception; super helpful staff; impeccable room; twice a day maid service; quick response to any issue raised; wonderful breakfast!
Certainly worth the price (and it is a bit pricey!)
Will stay again!
