“Relaxation in Africa”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

I've traveled throughout Africa and have encountered some good and bad hotels. This is a good one.

It was clean, the service was good and the pool is amazing. I wasn't a fan of the food - it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. Either way, if you're in Dar es Salaam, this is your best bet and I commend all of the many hard workers there who make this an enjoyable (and safe) hotel.

“Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Good vibe, nice bar area with a great Jazz singer on the weekends. I requested a shuttle to pick me up which cost $30, not sure how much it is from other services. Nice lawn in the back to relax, and the dinner buffet was ok. Internet is $10 a day unless you buy a package, and all rooms come with Breakfast, I wasn't expecting it with my package but told all rooms come with breakfast once I arrived, nice surprise.

“Some way to go”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

This property has some way to go before raching Serena standards. My standard room was fine but some details had not been attended to. The room service menu was dirty and had tape to hold it together; the internet came and went. In the gym all three running machines were out of order although the pool was nice.

The staff all seemed engaged and friendly and the gourmet resturant was really good.

I look forward to continued improvements

“Serena are improving this hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Stayed twice for one night, once at the beginning adonce at the end of our Northern Tanzanian Safari and week in Zanzibar.

In the three weeks between Serena had already improved the menu in the gourmet restauarant and second time round it was really nice. Very friendly staff there too.

The second time we had aroom overlooking the Golf Course and out to sea and this is a much better aspect than the other side. Except on the 7th (Executive Floor where it is free) the price for Wi-Fi is expesnive and this needs addressing but rooms are large and comfortable, well appointed business style hotel which was convenient for us to leave bags before safari and Zanzibar to pick up before returning to the UK.

Knowing the way Serena operates we suspect there will be more improvements in the pipeline.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking overlooking the golf course - much nicer aspect.

“Serena makes a difference”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

First of all, thanks to a future orientated new management, the free Wifi internet service throughout the hotel made a huge difference! We could even skype-call home due to the excellent bandwidth.

New touches and changes are seen everywhere, and the lounge staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly. Breakfast was great, abundant if you like it like that way, and with nice & friendly service, all smiles!

The facilities need some upgrades, and I guess Serena is planning to do this. We give the excellent rating for the motivation, friendliness, service and breath of fresh air the new management brings in.
