“Lovely guesthouse”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2011

I stayed there literally this week with my husband and two boys. We stayed in the family room which was a big room with a four poster and two singles. The downstairs is beautifully decorated and the garden and pool were nice enough to spend an afternoon relaxing in. They even brought us fresh melon to our Loungers, very nice touch! The location is about 5 mins in a taxi from the medina but you can walk to restaurants in the evening along the coast road, beach is not very nice, but hotel a pleasure, great brekkie too!

“It felt like we were in a small ancient palace”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2010

This was our first trip to Tangiers. The husband and wife who run this establishment speak English and are very accomodating. Neither the TV nor the internet worked at first, but eventually both got fixed. The dinner they served us was delicious. My wife is a pescaterian, and the fish was wonderful; we were served in a private area on the first floor. Our room was stunning -- like a movie set version of a Moroccan castle, but authentic. And the mint tea was delicious. Breakfast in the morning (included in the rate) was mainly local pastries. The only downsides were no shower (but a big bathub with a handheld shower nozzle), the hot water was slow to arrive, the place is not near anything so that we had to take a taxi to go anywhere, and the outside is not attractive with the unpaved muddy road. But the camel grazing in the field nearby was a nice touch.

“Dar Nilam: pure traditional marroqui kindness”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2010

We spent there 10 days, owing to the fact the photo on site were very beautiful, and Tanger seemed to be a city out of the touristic route. Indeed it was, but we had the opportunity to experience the traditional courtesy and sense of hospitality of Marocco. Rachid has a lovely family, which run the Riad (guest house) together with him (children included!) . We choose Lina room, which was little small, but well equipped even if needs some painting works. The last night we were gifted to move to the luxury suite, 60mq large! with balcony, a guardrobe, and a bathroom with circular bath. All the rooms are provided with TV, and air conditioning; the marroquì style rooms downstairs are very nice and well kept, with mosaico and a painted and wooden carved ceiling. The house has a wonderful garden full of plants and flower, and a swimmingpool.
If some points need to level up, everything is well redeem by the helpfull and warm management of Rachid and Fatima. If you pass by Tanger, stay a night by there..an hotel could not give the same sense of Marocco

“Not the most suitable for us”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 May 2010

The swimming pool was still closed and the beach (reasonable walking distance) not an option due to spring weather so we had to multiply taxi trips back and forth to the Center - not the most easy or the most likeable with young children.
The owners are professionals dedicated to their business and the hotel otherwise well maintained.
As already mentioned by previous clients do not trust the over-flattering pictures.

“exotic and welcoming”

After a long day of travel it was a great comfort to be welcomed by the staff at Dar Nilam. This home was opulently decorated and the rooms were very spacious. The beds were firm, but provided a great night rest. Location was easy to navigate to from the port, but perhaps they should have a map available when booking online. Best breakfast anywhere! Dinner was great as well, book it the day before. The family who owns the place are the most accommodating and gracious hosts!
