I had this dream of arriving in Morocco via ferry, at the old harbor of Tangier. And so I did, and the following days have just been the continuation of my dream: Dar Nour hosted us last minute, and apologized for us having to change room every day. This made us experts: we definitely would advice the suite with private terrace, but every single room is special in its own way.
Very well decorated with plenty of interesting books (and dvd's!). Staff was very friendly and welcoming, food was good, and the owners are super interesting to talk to!
It really felt like home!
On the bad notes I'd only suggest they change the towels which were quite poor quality.

I am so glad Dar Nour was our first place to stay on our first night of our first visit to the magical country of Morocco. It was so perfect. While not the most exotic of the three traditional "Dar" or "Riad" accommodations in which we stayed during our two-week visit, it was definitely the warmest and most intimate. It helped that the owner, Phillipe Guiguet Bologne, is such an charmingly urbane host. It also helps that the Dar is so perfectly located in the exotic Kasbah of Tangier, the rooms are so beautiful and cozy, the service is so excellent, and the food served at breakfast and dinner is so astonishingly superb! Without question, we will stay at Dar Nour the next time we visit Tangier, insha'Allah!

I had high expectations of Dar Nour. I should say that I am a regular visitor to Tangier, and stay at a great number of roads all over the country. Dar Nour has great possibilities but sadly does not deliver... Or at least it didn't deliver for me.

The big point was that I always had the feeling that the guests were incidental, that they were regarded as getting under the feet. There was one nice manager, but the rest were surly and the rooms totally unremarkable. As I say, I had high hopes. I wanted tis t be a jewel among jewels, a place to return to time and again. Sad to admit it, but I feel happy that I won't ever have t go back.

Dar Nour is that kind of place that you can find only in Morocco: a mix among cultures, styles and personal stories that makes you feeling comfortable like nowhere else. Dar Nour is an old house of the Casbah, the most charming area of the old Tangier, with a 360 degree-view over the city and the sea: simply stunning! The guest house reflects the passion of its owners for Tangier. They succeeded in recreating an elegant, cozy, unique place where to feel at home. The rooms, elegantly furnished and rich of details, show the owners' will to share with you their feeling about Tangier. Books are everywhere and available to satisfy your curiosity about Morocco. Philippe and Jean-Olivier are the perfect hosts (Catherine was not there when we stayed at Dar Nour). They are always helpful and kind, discreetly ready to join you at breakfast or "pour l'aperò" for a chat. Although Dar Nour is clean (try to walk around barefoot to test the excellent cleaning of the place) and very comfortable, don't choose it if you want a full serviced, all-comforts, modern hotel. This is a guest house for people willing to experience real elegance and a unique French-Moroccan touch. Avoid it if you are looking for a lounge bar with music and a jacuzzi. The aperitifs at Nour are accompanied by whispered talks and warm sunsets. You can be woken up by some voices from the narrow streets of the Casbah or by the call to the prayer of a Muezzin, but this part of the experience.
