“Ok for budget stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

I spent two nights in this hotel in Oct 2010 when travelling with a group of friends.

It is distinctly average, dated rooms and furniture, ok buffet breakfast etc, but having paid £18 per person per night over the internet, we knew what we were getting when we arrived.

Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Good base to explore Tangier from, especially if you are arriving at the port using a ferry from Algeciras in Spain as we were - walking distance to the hotel in 10-15 minutes.

We enjoyed a good meal at a restaurant close to the hotel (leave the hotel and walk left on the main road for 3-5 minutes, I've forgotten the name but it was a modern looking place with seating outside and a second level within the restaurant, decorated with black tiles). The set 3-course meals were very reasonably priced and we all enjoyed our meal there, the best we had in Tangier, especially the meatball and egg tagine.

Overall enjoyed my stay in Tangier and would return. Would use this hotel again if travelling with friends and wanted budget accommodation, but would not stay with family.

“Orderly hotel in good location. Nice breakfast.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2011

The hotel is centrally located in the Ville Nouvelle on one of the big boulevards. Therefore it is not very quiet. However, there are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. It is about a 10 minutes walk to the Medina. My room was large and albeit a little old fashioned it had everything you need and it was clean. Reception staff was friendly. The breakfast was probably the best hotel breakfast I have had in Morrocco. WiFi is available in the reception area, but I could not connect in my room.

“comfort and value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

The hotel is nice, clean and modern. The restaurant however is to be avoided. Great location, free wifi for guests. Nice pool area. Small bar which was empty most of the time. The laundry service took two full days so keep this in mind when sending your clothes to be cleaned. Comfortable and a good value for the price.

“It was a decent place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

I stayed 2 nights here November 2011. It was decent. The hotel was clean. The location was good - I could walk anywhere I wanted. The staff was freindly. The breakfast in the morning was Ok. All in all good. Nothing really stood out to me either good or bad. It was a very non-eventful stay.

“rooms faded like a rembrandt painting”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

I guess this hotel was something special in the middle of the last century but lack of maintenance has made it something of a relic from the past. The rooms are large with high ceilings. Flakes of plaster had fallen on to the carpet. The decor was very dated. In spite of all of this, the bedding was clean and comfy. The breakfast was plentiful and we found it was best to wait for fresh supplies of bread, croissants, and fruit before the flies had time to settle! There was a constant supply of hot coffee and fruit drinks. The reception staff were very helpful and the senior receptionist had a very good command of english and was able to attend to all our needs. he did recommend an excellent Asian restaurant ( Vietnamese/french owners)-La Pagode in Rue de Boussairi, a ten minute walk away. The best point about the Hotel is its location. Just ten minutes from the beach and port area and a short walk from the Medina. Overall good value for money. ( we paid £47 for a triple room)
but would not want to stay for more than one night.
