“Good location, great staff. I recommend.”

Not fancy, certainly not new BUT for a person who wants a clean sleepable room ( and bed), a central location, hot water, and great view of the harbor it is perfect. A very old hotel, in the middle of renovations in some rooms, it does need it since it was built in the 1800s. The bathrooms are remodeled and there is hot water, Lots of shabby old world charm. We had a party of four and were pleased with our choice, despite reading some negative reviews. Unfortunately our room was over a pretty busy little street that the kids like to play on. The hotel is 3 blocks from the bazaar and on the edge of the medina

The hotel has decent food for very good prices. They set up a cab tour for 1/2 day for 4 people for approximately the 35 US dollars total. The hotel dining was a 3-4 but the tajine was pretty good. We had no complaints other than the internet is spotty. We travel on the cheap and this worked out well. Now. if you want Raddison or even holiday Inn...this isn't it. It has a lot of history and fits right in to the area. Oh yeah, lots of stairs. We will recommend it to friends. Will post photos later.

Room Tip: We had the only room that accommodates 4 and, as I said, the kids play on the streets underneath the...

“Pictures different from reality”

Indeed, the Continental Hotel is nicely situated. Overlooking a bay and right at the edge of the city's centre, very close to where it all happens in Tanger. Everything can be done by foot, which is a big plus. It's quality however is rather poor. The very friendly hosts can't disguise that, to my regret. The rooms smell (maybe it's time to replace the covers or just clean them?), are not very clean, and the beds are, well, not too good either. It should be considered as a midrange hotel: don't expect too much of it but it's a good place to explore the city.

“Grand old beauty”

You've read about in the guide books and there it is, huge and prominent on the outer banks of the medina. It's a good landing spot for you in Tangier or exit. Prices are fair for what you get and it can be worth looking at your room first and asking about others — bathroom vary greatly and if you like a nice shower or bath, then you'll have to specify that. The continental breakfast is ever unchanging - it's pastries and/or self serve cereal with a proffered tea, coffee or juice. Mint tea will cost you extra. Like many others have commented, the hotel affords a great view to the sea. It's extra nice that a guard at the gate keeps out the touts (though they are right outside the gate waiting to "help" you) Why I like it: very helpful front desk staff with a good command of English. Yes, the place is old with near constant refurbishing going on. That is the essence of Morocco: a country under construction. If you want to have western culture expectations met, well - you are going to paying through the nose. This is a pretty good value to have a buffer of separation from the medina's drudgery and access to helpful advice.

Room Tip: #101 - best shower there is.

“Faded glory, REALLY faded glory”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

I want to be sure to say nice things about this hotel, so I will begin by mentioning the amazing breakfast location, on a sun drenched porch with lovely ancient tile work overlooking the harbor. The waiters were polite and attentive, and the pastries hearty. The coffee was the usual watery beige event one expects in much of Morocco, but still, breakfast was nice. Our concierge was also pleasant, and we liked that the walk from the ferry to the hotel was brief. There was limitless nearly boiling hot water which we really enjoyed. Cable tv. Our room view of the harbor was fantastic.
On the negative side, our furniture was so old as to be literally decaying before our eyes and under our bottoms (sitting on the sofa I sank nearly to the floor). The old rug on the floor was stained and frayed beyond recognition, and there were strange photos in the room of an odd western man in turbans looming around the hotel. Our room door did not actually lock. Pictures all hung askance, often the contents of their frames also akimbo.
Most of my disappointment with this hotel was its decay. I mourn glory allowed to rot, and hotel was on a fast slide down.

Room Tip: If you've chosen the faded glory, go for the port view. From the third floor it was the best pa...

“Misleading representation !!!”

This Hotel is not what it looks like on booking.com or other sites. These foto's must be 20 years old and the result is a misleading representation.
If you are looking for a "cheap dump" close to the ferry or medina... it works, other than that please stay away!
