Stayed here some time ago so can't comment on any recent changes. But this was a good place to spend a few nights in Tangiers. The location is perfect - right in the middle of the main drag in the shopping district. It's pretty safe at night too. Taxis are plentiful if you want them, though best to agree a fare in advance rather than trust in the meter which is invariably "broken". You would need a taxi to the port or the train station.
The hotel itself dates back to colonial days and I think that's why I liked it so much. The room had an antique telephone in it (which probably didn't work, but looked good!). The bed was ok and it had a small en suite bathroom. Everything was dated but very clean. Common areas also had a retro look and it was easy to imagine yourself being back in the 40s or 50s. I'm a sucker for this kind of faded grandeur and I loved it.
Breakfast was good - plentiful continental pastries and the like. The price was attractive and was fair value for what we got. The best bit was being able to sit on the room's balcony overlooking the boulevard Pasteur and people-watching on this busy road at the heart of Tangiers. Fascinating.
