“Perfect for a short break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2010

Navigate your way through the bustling back streets of Marrakesh and you will find an Oasis that is the Riad L'emir, Brice and his french co-host are friendly welcoming and helpful. The rooms are tasteful and the riad is cosy and clean but the icing on the cake is the beautiful rooftop garden where continental breakfasts were served daily, the view from the observation ledge was amazing. Brice, with his wealth of local information, will organise everything for you, from trips to the atlas mountains, which were stunning, to resevations in local restaurants and taxi's. Marrekesh is an amazing vibrant experience and the riad is only 10 mins walk from the center, an ideal place to relax and unwind. Would certainly return :-)

“The perfect place to stay in the middle of the Medina of Marrakech”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2010

Just 5 minutes from the hustle and bustle that is Jemma el Fna this very secluded Riad was the perfect place to chill out relax after the culture shock of Marrakech, Brice the proprietor welcomed us and introduced us to Isham his erstwhile assistant, who, as if like a Genie appeared at the moment we wanted something and seemed to grant our every wish. service was unfussy attentive yet totally unobtrusive. OK, the pool is small. So what? After 3 hours getting lost in the Souks it was a most welcome dip especially with an ice cold beer in hand.
Breakfast was simple but just right made all the better being served on the delightful roof top terrace with views of all the other roof tops, oh and the hazy Atlas Mountains to the South. The rooms were luxuriously simple, air conned, taste full bath rooms with powerfully shower in the vast bath. Plump fluffy towels to hand. we arranged a day trip up in to the mountains with Brice. Five of us plus Brice shoe horned in to his Toyota 4x4. And what a trip! Up to Imlil at 2000m or so clear blue skies to view North Africa's highest peak Jebel Toukbal. Brice took us to his favourite restaurant with a 360 degree view of the peaks and valleys of the High Atlas. A truly memorable meal.
So will I recommend Riad L'Emir with Brice and Isham. Most deffinately. Ignore the Americans' negative review, they're just ignorant.

“Excellent stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2010

Great position, close to Place Jemma El Fna and many others places to visit; good wi-fi connection, the staff is very kind, helpful, discreet and good in anticipating every needs we had. There's a pool but it's quite small, smaller than it looks in pictures

“The Budget hotel near Jemaa el Fna”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 April 2010

This is a nice, clean and pretty good priced Riad that you can find in Marrakesh. It is located very close to the Jemaa el Fna and the Koutoubia Mosque. The only thing is it is little bit hidden in the Medina like all the riads. The stuff is very kind. The Moroccan man who takes care of everything in the hotel is very nice and kind. The French owner is also very careful and talkative. The rooms are pretty well decorated because the owner is used to be an art director. It reflects the Moroccan spirit very nice. The bed is comfy and the room is clean. The bathroom is ok except the bathtub, which is painted and has lots of dark areas on it. It should be nice if they would have put some white classic Duravit style tub. However some may find it authentic. But my wife found it disgusting. The roof ok but don't expect to find a significant Medina view. You can only see a part of the minaret of the Koutoubia mosque. Other then that it is a good place to get the morning sun when having breakfast. By the way, the breakfast is French style and it is delicious. You might find more authentic Riad with similar price but if you somehow come up with this Riad stick with it.
