“Stunning oasis with fabulous food and service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2010

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights when we visited Marrakech, and found it to be a beautiful hidden gem. It's conveniently located 10 minutes from Jemaa el Fna square in a quiet side street. The square in the centre of the riad is just beautiful, with orange and olive trees and water features which give it a tranquil and authentic feel. Our room (the L'aziza suite) was very large, with a bedroom, sitting room, bathroom and private terrace, which was all well decorated. The breakfast was lovely and the evening meal we had on our first night at the riad was delicious.

Overall we would definitely recommend a stay at the Riad L'aziza, you couldn't hope for a more beautiful oasis.

“Charming and beautiful riad - definitely recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2008

We stayed just one night here and it was fantastic - a lovely room, big bathroom and a little lounge too. There was a big roof area with lots of places to sit and everything was beautiful. Breakfast was substantial and wonderfully made. The riad itself is absolutely stunning and the people who work there are very gentle and kind and helpful. DO stay there!

  • Liked — atmospheric
  • Disliked — tiny ants - no trouble though

“A fantastic place to stay”

Many Trip Advisor reviews drove my wife and I away from most of the ''5 star hotels'' in Marrakech, while 4 great reviews directed us, most thankfully, to Riad L' Aziza.
We can only be too gratefull to those 4 reviewers.
To make a long story short:
This Riad is a beautiful, quiet, exceptionally clean, greatly comfortable, well located, well maintained old Morrocan luxury house - and all these according to European standarts, and just 5 minutes walk away from the suks and Djma el' Fnaa square. The Riad's staff is very polite, on a sincere manner, and will make you feel at home.
If you think that all of the above are very common in the greater Marrakech area, then I would suggest you reconsider your destination!
We arrived in Marrakech airport at a very hot evening, with a delay. I would highly recomend asking for an airport pick up by the Riad (as we did), because it is difficult to find the Riad if you don't already know it. The hotel's manager, Paris born and raised Karima, came to pick us up, and being a naturally warm and kind character, gave us a great "welcome", along with the Riad's tour, and much advice about what to do in Marrakech and around.
We had booked the magnificent "Maharaja room", but as we prefered the, in a way, more private suite "L'Aziza", vacant at the time, Karima just let us have it, and gave us the discount (although we had booked the more expensive room, and therefore we didn't ask for the discount!).
By the way, I would suggest counting on the Riad's people for any kind of assistance and service, which come honest and hustle free (hustle free is a rare treasure in Marrakech)- you'll most probably end up paying less than in the "free (bargaining) market", anyway.
Touria, the soft and polite Morroccan houskeeper, cooked for us the absolutely best dinner we had in Morrocco. Fine ingredients, home cooking, greatly served, full menu (2 persons) for about 40-50 euros, including wine. We paid more elsewhere for dinners not nearly as great as this one.
Abdu, the nightkeeper of the Riad, was always there any late time to let us in (well, if he wasn't , this wouldn't have been a favorable review!), but also to bring us ice cold water to the room, even make us a late night coctail.
A positive plus for late risers is that the simple but quality and fulfilling breakfast is served anytime you wake up.
As a bottom line, I would highly recommend Riad L' Aziza to absolutely anyone - but especially to those who appreciate "homey" atmosphere, and also see travelling as a way to cutch the inner essence of a place.

  • Liked — all were equally great!
  • Disliked — can't think of anything- sorry, liked it too much!

“Oasis in Marrakech”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 June 2008

We spent a total of 7 days here and it really was one of the best things about our holiday. We loved the noisy souks but to come back to the riad, such an oasis of peace was divine. Was about 10 mins from the big plaza, you could do it in less but what is the point you are on holiday. Quite scary getting to the front door the first time. through an archway and into an alley, but it seems this is the way Marrakech has been built. Unless you want to sacrifice the quiet for a hotel/riad on a main street. Personally was a blessing to be away from the noise.
Touria looked after us and gave us such lovely breakfasts. Her mint tea was great. Nothing was too much trouble. Karima the manager, kindly helped us arrange a trip to Zagora and on to a night in the desert in a Bivouac, organised car hire and booked accomation in Essaouira. Morrocan reservations can be a little hit and miss but Karima straightened everything out for us.
If you want a true Riad (not just a house around a courtyard) with tiled floors, walls, ornate wooden carved doors, this definately ticks all the boxes. Just not sure why it is not advertised better. Loved every minute here. Huge suite is mind blowing by the way and if you can spend just one night in it well worth it.

“Oasis of quietness”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2007

Riad l’Aziza is a Riad of 16th century, situated in Marrakech medina, at 5’ on foot of Jamâa El Fna Square.
It’s a real oasis of quietness into the agitation of the medina, as well a Moroccan traditional house.
In the patio, a lovely foutain will allow to refresh yourself while drinking a cocktail.
Yours meals can be served by Touria, very nicely person, in the patio decorate with trees and flowers, in the lounge comfortably install at “Moroccan habit”, or else on the terace roof. It was a hanging-garden propitious for quietness, dream and meditation, sheltered from indiscreet eyes.
And, at nightfall, the magic of thousand and one candles will carry you away in the fairy atmosphere of authentic Riad in the medina of Marrakech.
