“Fantastic Intro to Morocco”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

We arrived in Marrakech on November 5th, having booked with Riad Jona a week prior by email. We had never been to Morocco and had no idea what we were doing, but Riad Jona was exactly as all the reviews said. Julien arranged pick up from the airport (slight hitch there but nothing major - they just weren't there when we landed but it was soon taken care of) and as described by others we were met on the edge of the medina (after the cab had gone as far as it could) by a bellhop who took our luggage to the front door. We had this same bellhop when he left and he is pretty pushy about tips, even asking for more once you've given him what you think is fair, but otherwise he's friendly enough. Once at the door we were ushered in, seated, and given the traditional mint tea. After a while, Julien came and sat with us, going through all the do's and don'ts for a first time visitor to Marrakech. His advice was invaluable and we did not experience anything quite like it at any of the other 4 riads on our trip. He even loaned us money the first night as we had not changed any yet! Very nice man who most definitely wants his guests to be happy. We ate there two nights and the food was very good.

Our room could not have been more romantic and private. We went for the "Encens" room on the terrace and we loved it (more about room below).

Room Tip: We stayed in "Encens" which is the room on the terrace. We loved the privacy and not hear...

“Perfect place to stay in Marrakech”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2011

I stayed at Riad Jona for my Birthday this year and it was absolutely fantastic. Having not been to Marrakech before, we asked Julien to arrange a transfer for us from the airport to the Riad. I’m so glad we did otherwise we’d never have found it. I highly recommend this option if it is your first visit to Marrakech. The heat and hustle and bustle were what I expected so when we stepped into the Riad it felt like we were in a completely different world! The lovely smells and colours as soon as we walked in were so inviting. We arrived mid morning after an early morning flight from the UK, not expecting Breakfast, but we were taken up to the roof terrace and provided with what can only be described as a wonderful breakfast. The mint tea was to die for and I don’t usually drink any tea at all so that’s saying something. After breakfast, because our room was not ready, we were offered another room to freshen up in, which was, once again, wonderful of them to offer us this. When they did show us our room, I knew I’d made the right choice when picking. We stayed in Cannelle Suite. It was huge and the décor was beautiful. There was no shower in the room, which I knew prior to leaving the UK anyway, but believe me, the bath more than made up for this. I would definitely recommend this room if you are thinking of going to Riad Jona. The Riad is in a wonderful location with only a 10-minute walk to the Medina but it is still far enough away for some peace and quiet when you want (and you will need) to get away from it all. We were in Marrakech for 5 nights, which was just enough time, but we did, however, take a trip to the Atlas Mountains, which took up a whole entire day. I would recommend doing one of the horse and cart rides around the city – It’s a great way to see everything. Anyway, back to the Riad. We ate at the Riad twice and a number of restaurants in the City and the best meal we had was definitely at the Riad. I had the lamb tagine (twice because it was so good) and my other half had the chicken tagine and the seafood Pastilla. Obviously eating at the Riad was more expensive that eating out but it was so worth it. I suggest that you definitely eat there once – I think it’d be a shame not to go and try possibly one of the best tagines you’ll every eat!! We ate on the terrace for both of our evening meals and it was perfect. While on the subject of the terrace, it was such a calm and relaxing environment with a small pool just to cool off in when the heat got a little too much. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and we cannot thank them enough for making our trip so special. If you are thinking of going to Marrakech, this is definitely the place to stay – it’s got my recommendation.

“Great location, wonderful staff, delicious food. Very relaxing stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011

Riad Jona is a fantastic Riad. I stayed in the Warda room which was large and beautifully decorated with rose petals. The food was wonderful. The first night I had chicken pastilla (which I never had before) and on my last night, chicken tagine. Breakfast was plentiful and they offered different options each time. Although I didn't eat on the terrace, it's a great spot for enjoying breakfast or sipping tea.

The Riad is an oasis of calm in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Marrakech. It's easy to find and only a couple minutes from the Djeema El Fna. Upon arrival I was welcomed with tea and dates. Great touch! Everyone was very friendly and made me feel at home as a solo traveler. I definitely recommend Riad Jona and look forward to visiting again.

Thanks for a lovely stay.

“Relaxing Haven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

Warm friendly welcome from the staff, fantastic building and rooms and great food. It was an oasis of calm in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Marrakech. Perfect quiet location, easy to find and only two minutes from the Djemaa El Fna. We received a phone call the day before our arrival to ask what we'd like to eat for dinner which was ready when we arrived and served on the roof top terrace. We were upgraded to the Carnelle suite which was beautifully decorated and scattered with rose petals! Very romantic room. Thanks for a lovely stay.

“Great relaxing space”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

After a big research, we decided to choose Riad Jona and we couldn't be more happy. It´s a great place, right in the medina, 5 minutes walking to the Djemaa El Fna, with a parking nearby.
The decoration is beautifull, the quality and simpathy of all the staff is excelent.
And the terrace is magnificent, on the morning breakfast or by the evening, drinking their tastefull mint tea to relax from the burst of the marrakech life style.
We will come back, for sure!
