“Super stay, wonderful people”

I can only echo the other excellent reviews of this Riad hotel and suggest you ignore any complainers. We had good, attentive service from a well organised and managed team. We ate dinner here twice and lunched on the day we left - food is good, traditional Morrocan "family " food: run to a simple system, you ask the cook for whatever you want and it is prepared just for you. Neatly and quietly served.

As with most Riads, the outside is singularly unprepossessing - the interior just amazing - two courtyards, one with pool and bar. Well decorated, well equipped and good-sized rooms; ours had a superb deep traditional bath. The management will organise tours, visits and arrange evening meals in other restaurants and riads - just ask

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the courtyard with the pool. Room 9, Arghoul is the finest.

“Perfect New Year's Eve”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Having stayed at Riad Chergui twice before in 2010, we hoped it hadn't changed when we returned for five nights over New Year's Eve - we weren't disappointed. Staying again in the excellent value Qanun room, we slept very well, cosy and warm during cold nights and enjoying the hot sunshine on the roof terrace during the day. The area continues to be completely safe for walking around at night, while breakfasts are as generous as ever, with the welcome addition of lots of fresh fruit, served by the ever-charming staff.

On New Year's Eve we enjoyed a lavish diffa feast, with entertainment and unlimited drinks, beside a lovely log fire, capped off with Laurent Perrier at midnight - the perfect way to ring in the new year and excellent value. Once again, we wouldn't look anywhere else on our next visit to magical Marrakech. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: The smallest room, Qanun, is small but perfectly formed - an absolute bargain.

“Beautiful and friendly riad...great break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Visited Marrakech last weekened with two mates from uni. Had a fantastic time in the centre of the city, the riad is perfectly positioned about 10 minutes walk from the main square but by some incredible restaurants and, importantly in Marrakech, easily findable after a few too many in the local haunts!

Emmanuelle and her team are fantastic, we had three single beds in our great room, a separate wardrobe and loo and the biggest bath i have ever seen! The beds were comfy, the shower was hot and perfect and the decor itself was stunning. The pool is inviting, even in Janaury, and the roof terrace is a fantastic place to start an evening.

the breakfasts were a great addition too, cereals, cheese, ham, yoghurts and local pastries were a nice touch.

We visited all the main sites, and would thoroughly recommend asking Emmanuelle asking to arrange a taxi to the Atlas mountains and to do the trek around the waterfalls at setti fatma. it was so beautiful and well worth a visit.

we ate at Le Fondouk, very tasty and well priced, Comptoir , turns into a great club and amazing bellydancers during your meal! On the final night we went to the restaurant round the corner from the riad, dar moad i think it was called, great meal as well although the atmosphere wasnt as good.

“Excellence in Marrakech”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

Emmanuelle and her first class team made our party of 8 feel instantly welcome in this tranquil and elegant Riad. Nothing was too much trouble - unexpected and untimely requests for meals and snacks were seamlessly dealt with, advice and local information was freely given and services were arranged/booked as required.

The building itself is interesting and the attention to detail is exquisite - the painted ceilings in the downstairs public areas, particularly the salon, are extraordinary and the fire makes it a very welcoming room. The spaces are large and airy, the pool is refreshing and the roof terrace atmospheric and relaxing. Our bed was big and comfortable and the bedroom itself was quiet and dark.

All our party agreed that a return visit is essential, not because Marrakech is a particularly extraordinary place, but because the Riad Chergui and its management is so good.

I didn't take a camera so I have no pictures to post.

Room Tip: Rooms 1 and 2 are very spacious, rooms 5 and 6 are smaller (still tall and plenty big though) and a...

“A Moroccan gem”

What a find it was! Riad Chergui combines style and efficiency with comfort and relaxation. The owner, Emanuelle, is humorous and efficient and the staff equally so. We swam in the pool (yes, in November), enjoyed a tasty tagine in the evening and had impromptu snack lunches on two occasions. Our bedroom was large and had a stunning view onto the pool. The Riad made for a really happy stay in Marrakech.
