“Beautiful place, unfriendly staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

We had ambivalent feelings about this Riad. The place itself is absolutely gorgeous and amazingly well maintained. The location is a bit hard to find like everything in the Medina, but after a few days you'll manage to find your way.
What started to bother us after a while was the attitude of the staff. The manager was very sparesome with information and advice, and rarely present. Whenever he was actually in he was polite but gave us the feeling he couldn't wait untill we would leave his office.
The rest of the staff seemed indifferent at best and sometimes downright grumpy. We are not difficult to please but some people would refuse to even say hello back in any language (including Arabic) when opening the door. Breakfast was served untill 10.30, but the staff would be irritated when we arrived at 10.25. We made an effort to be polite and friendly but most people couldn't even smile at us, making us wonder what it was we did wrong (luckily there were some exceptions, like the friendly night guard).
Having stayed in other places in Morocco where people tried to make you feel welcome and at home, this really effected our appreciation of this place.

“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2011

There were four of us traveling on the weekend between Arabic classes in Rabat. The staff were great. Because there were four ladies we had a great two level accommodation. The host was excellent and helped with all sorts of facilities such as a guide, who apparently wasn't ready for ladies-who-shop, the hammam next door, transportation back to the train station and a very nice dinner in the evening.

Being in Marrakesh is one thing, but staying in a beautifully appointed riad in the median was an extra bonus. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. they all allowed us to practice our basic Arabic.

i want to go back and spend a couple of weeks exploring.

“fabulous treasure in the chaos of Marrakech”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2011

my friend booked this stay for us- and it was a lovely surprise.
i do not speak french, which was somewhat challenging, so mono-english speakers be prepared. the riad manager booked a guide and an excursion for us, one of whom spoke english and one very little.
the riad was gorgeous- although low lighting made it difficult to do much after dark.
lots of lovely details.
they are building a hammam on site which will motivate us to return!!!

Room Tip: they are all lovely!

“A wonderful place in the medina of Marrakech”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

We booked this first time Marocco trip via Groupon and had a wonderful stay in the Riad Amiria Victoria in Marrakech. We got invited to a nice meal at our first night at the Riad; stayed in a beautiful room and got all the service we needed. The riad has a coosy atmosphere. In the morning we had breakfast on the roof terrace with a nice view. The breakfast itself was simple, but you can order small things to make it more complete. Mr. Hassan offered a good service. We started the first day with a guide booked via the hotel to get a good start in the labyrint of the medina. After that we found our way in the medina by ourselves, which was a nice challenge. He also suggested two great restaurants Foundouk and Dargelliz with a relaxed but typical Maroccon atmosphere. The food was great, especially in Dargelliz. On our third day we booked a trip to the Berber mountainvillage Imlil, also via the hotel. It was a comfortable idea with a great guide in the village who took us for a 2 1/2 hours trecking through the mountains. The staff was helpful and very friendly, no complaints at all. We thought that the money was well worth it. Thanks Mr Hassan we had a great first time in Marrakech. After these 4 nights stay we took the bus to Essouira, a great combination when you stay just for one week in this country where there is lots to explore.

Located in the old Medina close to the Museum and historic Islamic university. Lovely Riad with beautiful and tasteful decor and a very warm welcome. A real pleasure to spend the week there. Already planning a return in January
