“Perfect 30th birthday present”

We stayed here back in October, I agree with all the positive reviews on here, it was amazing!

Ate here two of four nights and the food was beautiful. We also ate at Riad MK which was fabulous. Raid Zolah arranged day trips for us Quad biking and a trek up in the lower Atlas, it was so beautiful. The rest of the time we just explored the Souks. We felt very safe, well cared for and loved Marrakech.

We stayed in Suite 2 which was beautiful. Fantastic short break.

Room Tip: Suite 2 was beautiful and very big

“Perfection”

We stayed at Riad Zolah for a winter treat to help us get through the January blues and chose it after reading all of the fabulous reviews on trip advisor. It didn't let us down at all and was even more wonderful than we could have imagined! The location is perfect, only a 5 minute walk from the main square and souks, yet in the Riad it was so peaceful and an idilic place to escape to. The staff were incredible...so kind generous and polite and made us feel like we were staying at a friends. There is a beautiful roof terrace which has views across the rooftops of Marrakech and the Atlas Mountains. An absolute suntrap, even in January! We had dinner and lunch at the Riad which were delicious...we got to pick what we wanted that morning and it was obvious how fresh the ingredients were. Also would highly recommend a Hammam and massage at the Riad, so relaxing! We have already recommended this place to everyone we have spoken to and can't wait for our next visit!

Room Tip: We stayed in suite 2 which was amazing. Huge kingsize bed and bath, gorgeous log fire which was perf...

“Beautiful, secluded riad in a bustling city..!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

We stayed here as a 'special treat' after an Intrepid tour of Morocco in March - April 2011 for two nights. My husband I were in one of the larger suites and a female friend in a downstairs smaller, junior room.

We knew it would be lovely - from photos and reviews, and it definitely lived up to the expectations.

We were collected from our final tour hotel and taken to a road near the entrance to the medina. Our luggage (now very heavy with carpets, tagines and bowls) was carried by the driver - we felt so bad :-/ to our door (yes - we'd have NEVER found it if we didn't have someone directing us the first time). As with all our accommodation on Morocco, we were greeted with tea and biscuits.

Our rooms (suite 4 and 5) were made up beautifully. Our larger suite was basically an apartment - separate rooms and stairways... we definitely didn't use all the space..! Every day there were new buscuits and fruit on the tables. The air conditioning was turned on at night before we arrived back from dinner. And, rose petals sprinkled on the bed, around the bath on the first night.

We ate at the riad on the last night, our last night in Morocco, and were not disappointed. We had lovely service, shared three mains between the three of us, and two bottles of wine (both complimentary due to construction noise during our stay - but we hardly noticed it).

We swam/floated in the small pool - downstairs were extra towels, bottles of water. When we left, our bags were again carried out of the medina and we were taken to tha airport.

Only downside was our iPod dock was not working and was never fixed - changed - because they didn't have another. I wonder if it ever was. Also, there were unfortunately not many leather shoes available for our girl sized feet (and we didn't have any in our room when we arrived - but our friend did).

Secondly, I wouldn't recommend this accommodation for women travelling alone and wishing to stay out late at night (and you must, to see the main square at night) due to the location down dark and somewhat confusing alleyways. The three of us (two women and one man) were followed by some teenagers late one night. Remember, walk with a purpose and look like you know where you're going (altho most of these kids will know you're heading towards Zolah, and will start asking you if you need help - and probably wanting money for a job well done :))

Was a lovely stay and would stay here again :)

“Amazing. Beautiful. Fabulous.”

I read the reviews on Trip Advisor and was sure I'd like Riad Zolah, but I didn't know how MUCH I'd love it.

There was a driver waiting for me at the airport. There was Omar, waiting for me outside the Medina...he dragged my luggage and gave me a tour as we walked along.

The streets were dark, and I wondered if I would be safe. Not a problem, Omar said, it's ok for you to go out at night here. And he was right.

We arrived at the Riad and waiting was Asmail. "Hello!" he said, "How are you? Did you have a good trip? Would you like to sit down and have some mint tea?"

Wow. Well, sure, of course. And cookies, too, they offered.

"Did I have a plan for my visit?" Yes, as a matter of fact, I'd written down some things I'd like to do. Asmail took my list, copied it and said they would begin tomorrow to make arrangements for me. And then did. I didn't miss anything.

My luggage was taken to my room. I sat and relaxed a bit. Then a little tour....here's the dining room....here's your room...there are some leather slippers here for you to wear and to take home with you. Here are some post cards.

I'd arranged for dinner that night in the Riad, and after an hour or so, I went down to dinner. lamb tajine was great....and was the wine.

Then back to my room...flower petals everywhere...and now the bed has been pulled back and there are candles burning. What a lovely way to go to sleep.

They do give you a cell phone to call with any issues you my have. I called a couple of times, since I have NO internal GPS, but finally I learned the little streets and alleyways.

On Christmas I road the Quads in the morning and camels in the afternoon...that was plenty for me, and I asked for dinner in my room...after a shower to rid myself of camel, they brought me a giant glass of red wine...then Aziz built a fire in the fireplace. Then dinner arrived.

Chicken tajine...the meat just fell off the bone...wonderful flavor.

This is a great place. You feel at home immediately.

Fatima was adorable. She couldn't do enough for me.

Asmail, Fatima, Aziz, Omar. They are amazing. So welcoming. So kind. So considerate.

This is a fabulous place to stay. Free internet. Comfortable bed. Good food GREAT wine.

I'll return, I'm sure.

Room Tip: I stayed in Suite 3...it was lovely...on the second floor.

“Lovely stay; unsafe location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

My husband and I just returned from a lovely 4-night stay at Riad Zolah; It was a truly wonderful stay with top-notch service and with many amenities included in the price for the suite (working fireplace, complementary non-alcoholic beverages, breakfast, transfers b/t airport).

The riad is located nearby the souks, about a 10 minute brisk-walk from the medina. N.B. If thinking of selecting this riad for your stay, the riad is located in the inner souks in a back alley-way that is isolated, quiet, and dodgy, making you an easy target to get mugged if coming back late in the evening. After going for drinks and a belly dancing show at Le Comptoir Darna last night, we were dropped off by a petit taxi to the medina square around midnight; the only way in/out to the riad is by foot, and were held up at knife-point by adolescents men in their 20's laying in wait to mug a tourist traveling back to Riad Zolah or Villa Flore that is also nearby. We were lucky to have gotten away unharmed, but were pretty shaken, and very happy to be flying out the next day.

This riad is perfect for travelers who will be back to the riad in the early evening when the city is still bustling, but the location makes the riad unsafe for travelers who will want to experience the nightlife of the city.

Room Tip: Suite 6 is located on the top floor, away from the main unit; the room was a little noisy for sleep...
