“The average hotel close to Jemma El Fna square”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2010

The hotel is well situated in the heart of Marrakech close to Jemma el Fna square. In the area a lot of cheap restaurants, shops and other hotels. Rooms very basic and dirty. Bed's old and the bedding was not clean. Bathroom very small - no soap or towels. These were the small animals - bugs. The rooms have no windows or air conditioning. In the summer months only helps a little fun ceiling, which stands on the table. There is no TV, no Internet . Right next door you can buy basic services - laundry and hairdresser. Breakfast is included in the price of very small-bread, butter, jam and tea. The owners of friendly, but very little contact due to the ignorance of the English language. Hotel very dirty and old - I would not recommend sleep here

“Please Please do not stay here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2010

Room small, extremely hot thought I would collaspe at times. There was a fan but it did not help much. Towel rail loose. Sink leaked and shower was often cold with little hot water. Breakfast not good. Room was never cleaned during stay. On last day I had an argument with manager. He asked me to pay for taxi transfers and I had already payed had to show him paperwork. I stayed in dessert one night for camel trek and manager said I would pay for the room that night s I should have left my luggage with security. I did not reliase this and was not informed at begining of stay. (So be warned) He became quite aggresive towards me and I had to tell him to calm down. He did not like this. Apart from this hotel the holiday was great.

“Cool Riad but expensive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2010

When we were there we were told by a native that it was expensive and we could of found cheaper but of course we paid for the convenience of booking before we went.
It was really hot when we got there and in the room you have just one fan. We just had showers before we went to sleep and even woke up in the night to shower again because of the heat. The Riad was traditional. Really cool inside but when I woke up I was covered in bites and was quite ill the next day but my partner didn't get bitten at all.

“Nothing special, good location, much better options elsewhere.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2010

Great Location and that's about it. Staff seem to want to be somewhere else. Rooms are not particularly clean. Hot water is sporadic. Breakfast is terrible. Would not go back!

“value for money, but watch the staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2010

Riab Rhaba is fairly good value for what you pay - fantastic location, clean rooms etc. We had a very very small room the first night we stayed which barely fit a double bed and nothing more. The shower and toilet were just tucked behind a shower curtain in the room. However when we returned later that week we asked to be moved to another room and we found the other rooms are all much bigger with a bit of room to move. They also have a shower and toilet in a bathroom (not within the room!). Breakfast is good and fairly standard, good coffee or tea with breads and honey.

Although, I was disappointed that after nearly a week's stay they decided to be cheeky/dishonest by offering a 'private taxi' service to the airport.... only to find they just walked us across the medina, flagged a petit taxi and the Riad employee pocketed the differnence in the cost. He tried to tell us that it was because his car was broken, but he should have just been honest from the start and given our money back for us to make our own way there and pay our own (CHEAPER) fee for a petit taxi. He obviously took us for naive travellers but in the end he looked like the fool. Unfortunately it left us with a bad impression at the end of what was a fairly nice stay at their Riad.

RiadRahba, Reservations at Riad Rahba Marrakech, responded to this review

On this occasion, i have to say that the vehicle which is used for transfers really had developed a problem.

In order not to dissapoint these guests and leave them without any method of getting to the airport (which they needed urgently) the decision was taken to fetch them a taxi.

Usually, our transfers are made in a private vehicle.

I feel that we were in a no win situation here, faced with the choice of organising alternative vehicle for the guest or leaving them without anything - both situations which the client would have something to complain about.

The staff member who arranged the taxi was thinking on his feet and wanting to provide the guest with some reliable way of getting to the airport on time.

With regards to the staff member pocketing the extra money, our staff are not thieves and this did not happen. The staff member paid the going rate for the taxi to the airport on behalf of the guests.
