“Tranquil riad in great location with very friendly staff”

I've never written a review before but felt compelled to after our wonderful stay at Riad Altair. The hosts - Abdel, Mohammed and Yassin (?) - were fabulous. They were attentive without being obstrusive. The house keeping staff were great too - friendly, producing gorgeous breakfasts and keeping the riad and the rooms clean.

The riad was beautifully decorated and had 2 roof terraces to chill out on after a day bartering at the souks.

The location was perfect - 10 mins to Jeema el-Fna and 5 mins to Moussaine area. Great local restaurants were Maison Arabe and terraces des epices. For a cool beer in a roof top bar heading back from the souks try Cafe Arabe.

All in all, good value for money, feels like a home from home and great location.

Room Tip: We had vega on the 1st floor which we were more than happy with. There is a room on the ground floor...

Excelent choice if you're planning to stay near the Jeema el-Fna. Easy to locate, due to the excellent location, it's easy to walk to the main tourist atractions. The riad is fully renovated, the staff is very friendly and polite. Recommended!

“Beautiful riad with very friendly staff”

This place is a hidden gem. It's very good value for money with exceptionally friendly staff. We couldn't have chosen a better place for our stay in Marrakech.
This riad is in Medina, only 10 minute walk from the square and perfect for getting around.
It's very charming Moroccan townhouse, nicely decorated. You feel part of the culture staying here.
We really enjoyed our stay and thought the staff couldn't have been any friendlier and more welcoming. The riad is very peaceful and nice to come back to after walking all day in the hectic city.

“Hidden gem!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

The design of this hotel was beautiful, we felt like in a different world. Mohammed our butler was very friendly, helpful with local knowledge and polite. Breakfast was delicious. We loved our room, spacious and beautifully decorated. The hotel had a rooftop terrace with beds, we watched the stars at night after delicious dinner there (you need to book for dinner, they only do it twice a week). The only downside was I got sick during the last day and of course this was not the hotel fault! but it did ruin our short break a little bit. I recommend to go to Marrakech in the cooler months, September was too hot (38-40ºC) for us.

“Lovely!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

My daughter and I recently visited Marrakech for the first time and stayed 4 nights at this wonderful Riad. We loved everything about it - location was perfect as it is within the Medina giving easy access to the main attractions but once inside it was very calm and quiet. Our room on the first floor - the Isar - was perfect with good comfortable beds and overlooked the charming patio. The breakfasts were served on the patio and were excellent with fresh fruit as well as a selection of cakes and breads. We also took advantage during the middle of the day to relax on the wonderful terraces and catch some winter sun whilst taking in the city views. The staff at the hotel were very helpful and helped arrange cookery classes and a massage for us and were always there to let you in when returning to the Riad – day and night but never invaded your privacy. Mohammed who worked at the hotel also took us to meet his father a weaver as we had expressed interest in seeing textiles and we were privileged to able to see him at work. Our experience of Marrakech was positive from the moment we arrived and the Riad Altair certainly exceeded our expectations
