We arrived a day ahead of our friends and having gotten to the Riad at midnight, we were starving. The staff went into the Medina, found a butcher, bought some meat and made us a light midnight snack. Accompanied by a bottle of red and the most beautiful wine glasses I have ever seen, I knew we were onto a good thing.

We were a group of friends taking a total of 3 of the 5 rooms within the Riad. Every one of the rooms were unique, elegant and completely stylish. Ours was a suite with a fireplace and the most luxurious bath I have ever seen in a hotel. The communal areas are stunning and spacious. We were lucky enough to be the only guests in the Riad those days however even if it weren't the case, there are plenty of places to get away from everyone, if you so desire.

We had dinner cooked for us one night. It was absolutely amazing. The table was setup more decadent than most weddings that I have been to. The food was incredible. My husband is Moroccan and he was more than impressed. If you stay at Riad Monika, ensure you have dinner there at least one night. You won't be disappointed.

The location is also brilliant. Close enough to centre of the Medina to be convenient yet far enough (a street or two) to be quiet enough for a restful stay.

Riad Monika is on our list of places to visit again. It far exceeded expectations.

The rooms are plush and Morrocan, deep colours, big beds,marble bathrooms; the courtyards are beautiful. Thestaff wanted us to like Marrakech and had all the helpful advice that we needed while being unobtrusive. Zouhair was the perfect host and Ahmed was keen to ensure that we were always okay. While Marrakech is full of hustlers people running and working in hotels and shops want you to be comfortable, presumably so that you will spend more money, and therefore are very helpful.

We had a meal cooked for us in the riad, grilled sole, which was excellent. Breakfast was a joyful event. Fresh fruit and freshly squeezed mmandarin juice. Breads, eggs, Morrocan pancakes, croissants, tea and coffee.

The kids used the small and cold pool.

If was being picky, and this is being picky; because the standard of everything else was so high the storage of boxes and brushes in the corners of public areas and behind plants was slightly irritating and incongrious.

It is highly priced but the refurbishment of the riad to this standard must have cost a small fortune. We would like to go back; it would be great to take all six rooms with a large group.

Spent a lovely 3 nights at Riad Monika in October, the Riad is hidden away down a quiet street to the North of the Medina. We arrived after dark however no problems finding it as they very kindly came to meet the taxi and escorted us through the streets to the front door. The Riad has been beautifully restored, the rooms are not overly big but really well designed and a gorgeous 4 poster in the room we stayed in.

The Riad is just a few minutes walk from the entrance to the Medina and approximately 15 minutes from the main square. The staff were fantastic and helped book dinner and taxi's for us every evening as well as guiding us from the Riad to the restaurant on one night.

We had a great time bargaining in the Medina and ended up buying far more than we could carry on the plane. However the Riad staff again came to the rescue and sorted out shipping our purchases home for us.

Service was amazing from start to finish and I would definitely recommend this as a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the old town
