“Excellent location, clean, basic but everything you need for long weekend away .”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012 via mobile

Visited early Feb 12,ideal location 10 mins out from main centre by taxi which is approx 50drm (£3.80)and a 15 min taxi journey from airport approx 100drm (£7.60). Horse carriage to and from centre approx 100drm also but always agree a price because you will sure get ripped off as you do where ever you go in Marrakech.
Some good restaurants locally (few mins walk) from hotel, out of hotel and turn right.
If looking for a taxi find it your self as if hotel does it they will charge you more.
Hotel was clean but was cold so we cheated and after cleaners had been we took the electric card off the key and left the electric on in the room so we always had a warm toastie room,if you do this don't hand your keys in as they will notice your electric card missing, without this you will be cold for sure.other than that staff were polite, hotel clean, good position.
We booked our own trips by grabbing a taxi for they day at an agreed cost. Atlas mountains and Berber villages 600 drm (£45) and Essaouira which is on the coast and 2nd drive approx 800drm (£60).

“Traditional Moroccan Flair and Warm, Friendly Service in the New City”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Upon entering the Moroccan House Hotel following arrival from the UK, it was like walking into something out of Arabian Nights, with ornamented archways on every floor and colourful wood furnishings all about, with a long Moroccan brass and stained glass lamp fixture suspended in the riad atrium six stories up. Lifts whisk you to your rooms, if the stairs are an effort. Upon entering our petit room, the beds were covered with a canopied lace and wood furnishings painted with ornate Moroccan traditional themes. The bath and shower were more modern and the toiletries provided werer quite generous to include sopas, a toothbrush, toothpaste and shaving kit. Dinner was served downstairs in the lovely restaurant where we started off with generous potions of Moroccan salad for the first course, soup for the second and the tagine main course, which was always lovely and very much an incentive to buy your own tagine at the Jemaa El Fna if it could survive the journey. To literally top off our stay, the rooftop terrace is where breakfast is served with a wide variety of breads, jams, cereals, teas, coffees and omelettes on request. Located in Giezel, the hotel is in the newer part of Marrakesh that is about a 20-25 minute walk to the old town medina and the Jemaa El Fna or "La Place." Most importantly of all, the hotel staff were extremely friendly, always willing to cater to our needs and also able to book day trips within and outside of Marrakech, including the Atlas Mountains and Ouarzozate. I would be very happy to recommend the Moroccan House Hotel and very much enjoy staying there again.

Room Tip: With a lovely, traditionally Moroccan flair and ornate wooden and wrough iron furniture, guests will...

Had a three night stay here and found the hotel very comfortable and would return here if we ever came back to Marrakech, however I dont think I'll be returning in a hurry. Its around a 5 minute walk from the European shopping centre and around half an hours walk from Jaama El Fna square. Beds werent the comfiest but the rooms were spotless and peaceful. Breakfast is taken on the roof each day and this is pretty cool, small pool at the rear is nice and was our own for the whole time. Marrakech was quite disappointing and although there are some sites and attractions, we had visited them all by the second day. As expected it can be hard to come across beer or something to do after 9pm however there is a bar called the Chesterfield on the 18th November Boulevard which was strange but really nice inside.

“Would definitely return”

Recently back from a 4 night stay at this traditional looking riad, loved the decor and enjoyed our stay. We were half board as got a good deal through Travelrepublic. Breakfast was plentiful served on the roof terrace with lovely views, there is an indoor seating area too. Lots of pastries, cereals, fresh omlettes. Dinner was a bit hit and miss, 5 courses every night far too much food, salad, soup, tagines, fruit. Drinks reasonably priced, 10 - 20 dirhams all soft drinks, although do get your water from the local shop - turn left out of hotel and walk for a few minutes, next to the Atlas pharmacy is a little shop 10 dirhams for 5 litres of water and 18 dirhams for local brand cigarettes. There is a lovely restaurant/bar just a couple of doors down called Beyrout, decent wine at good prices and lovely staff.

We found it a great location, near the modern shopping area away from the craziness of the medina, but so easy to walk everywhere. The hop on/off tourist bus stop is pretty close-turn right out of hotel then first left, walk to the end and the stop is on the corner opposite the tall Renaisance Hotel. The square is about 25 mins stroll -left out of hotel walk to the end then left again, walk through the shopping area on the right to get on to Mohamed V road and keep going left. For Majorelle Gardens turn right out of hotel then first right, keep going 10 to 15 mins and the sign for the gardens is on left hand side of road.

We used the hamam at the hotel, it was a good experience but think there are better ones available, it was pretty small, not overly warm and they didnt use the traditional black soap. All the staff were friendly and helpful when we were trying to sort out our transfer back to the airport. The rooms are comfortable and even though we had a front road facing room the traffic did not keep us awake. The reception area and dining area got a bit cold in the evening but was cosy in the rooms under the blanket provided. There is a television and hairdryer, the safe and fridge are chargable extras, the safe was 30 dirhams a night. I would definitely return to this hotel but probably not bother being half board as there are plenty of restaurants to experience in the city.

“Fabulous and friendly hotel”

I have just returned from this lovely hotel and for the price that we paid for bed & breakfast we really couldn't fault it. The staff were so helpful and nothing was too much trouble - and always done with a smile. The rooms were amazing - two four poster beds that looked as though they were from the Arabian Nights and that were also very comfortable. It was a little noisy at night if you're used to not hearing people or traffic outside but as you're in a city I don't see that anyone can expect otherwise. Breakfast was good value and offered a selection to suit most tastes; omelettes and crepes freshly cooked, and the usual selection of salad, cold meat, toast, jam, cereal and some lovely little cakes.
The decor is very vibrant throughout the hotel but then so is Marrakesh!! The whole city is an assault upon all the senses which I loved, however if you want to relax Marrakesh is not in general a place to find calm. The souks are completely manic with everyone desperate to sell you things... anything!! You tell them you're not interested in pashminas they offer you spices, you say no to spices then you're offered perfumes, no to perfumes- well you must need a tagine... The main square is a fascinating place day & night with all manner of entertainment and foods on offer. The snail soup is an experience although possibly now that I've tried it once I won't have any on my next visit. The food stalls all desperately vie for your business and are great value. We didn't try any of the more expensive restaurants as we were enjoying the food on offer in the square although it was good to sit for a while on the Terrace Panoramique for an hour and watch the hustle below without anyone trying to sell something for an hour.
Marrakesh is a place that gets under your skin and with so much on offer I know that it won't be long before I return and I will certainly stay at this hotel again.
