“A jem in the Medina”

We stayed three days at Riad Catalina in January. We had a lovely time in Marrakech. The staff was amazing, the room very romantic and the interior court beautiful. It is well situated, a few minutes from Djemaa Al-Fna square. An oasis of calm and tranquility in a bustling town. The breakfast was scrumptious, and the lamb and prunes tagine at supper time was succulent. We highly recommend this place if you go to Marrakech. They also arranged for airport pick-up, which is higly recommended if you want to avoid the hastle of haggling the fare...and findinf the riad.

“Superb staff, beautiful hotel, and excellent location”

Wow! I loved staying in the Medina of Marrakech! Riad Catalina is excellently located for walking throughout the Medina and to Jemaa El-Fna. Tea in courtyard, breakfasts and happy hours in lounge were fun for meeting other guests. Guests tend to be European and a few Americans. Staff could and did arrange anything we requested...packaging for transporting chandelier home, daytrip to Cascades d'Ouzoud. Rooms were small but clean, comfortable, and well equipped. Bathrooms were nice. Highly recommeded for travelers who wish to spend lots of time near best tourist locations of Marrakech and who wish to experience briefly living in the alleys of Medina. A good value for the price. I plan to stay here on my next visit to Marrakech.

Room Tip: we stayed in one of the basic rooms, but I would stay in one of the roof-top suites next time.

My friend and I stayed here in September for 5 days relaxation, and that's just what we got. I'd been told that staying in a Riad inside the Medina is a must in Marrakech, due to the fabulous food and warm hospitality you can expect. Given the wonderful welcome we were given at Riad Catalina, I would (and have now) recommended it to everyone I know. Started our days with a lovely breakfast in the mosaic floored open courtyard, and had our evening meals in the bedouin tent in the courtyard. We had delicious tagines with fish, lamb and chicken, local olives, fresh bread and sweet pastries. Staff were friendly and courteous at all times, and the location is great for 5 min walk to Place Jema el Fnaa - which is a brilliantly crazy melting pot of sights, sounds, smells, humanity and every form of entertainment you can imagine. Had always wanted to go to Marrakech and the Riad Catalina did not disappoint - please go and see for yourself!

I have recently returned from a weekend away in Marrakech for the third time, but this time we decided to stay in a riad after staying at the sofitel a couple of times.
What can i say about the catalina, well, it was magical the moment you walk down the winding backstreets, entering the little wooden door it was like a paradise inside, it certainly didnt feel like you were meters away from the hustle and bustle of the square.
The courtyard come dinning area was beautiful, exploding with fresh orange trees and coulors, and nothing but the sound of the singing birds!
As we checked in we were told we had been upgraded to a suite, not expecting it to be the royal suite! As we walked through the flowing curtains hiding the huge double doors we cam to our suite, expecting it to be the hall way of the riad, but no it was all ours! Two storys of beautiful cultured elegant room! there was stunning chanderliers everywhere you turned, enought beds and space to sleep six! Our own dinning table and three lounges, two downstairs and one up. Space was really not an issue!
Food at the hotel was superb standard, we had breakfast daily which consisted of mixed pancakes, freshly baked rolls with jams, and honeys! yougarts, fresh fruit, juice and a selection of teas and coffee, this truley was breakfast fit for royalty! We had lunch at the hotel one day, chicken tagine with fresh salads and locally sorced wine which was truly delucious! This cost us around 30 euros each including the half bottle of wine, dessert and the famous mint tea!
One day into our stay, a friend of mine flew over to join us and the staff were more than happy to have him, he paid a small nightly charge to stay in our suite, as there was plenty of room!
Overall the service of the catalina is excellent, nadia especially!! So helpful and need forfilling, would not fault a thing.....

Thank you.

Room Tip: The royal suite was incredible, but honestly even if we didnt get the upgrade all the rooms are char...

“Riad Catalina Marrakech”

We have just come back from a long weekend (2nd Dec – 5th Dec) in Marrakech. This is our second visit to Marrakech, before we had stopped in one of the big hotels on the outskirts of Marrakech, this time we wanted to try a Riad. We stayed at the Riad Catalina opting for half board. The staff are so friendly & courteous, making you feel at home, the rooms are clean and tidy. The half board was a good decision as the evening meals were amazing as were the breakfasts. We had booked a superior room but were upgraded to a suite. The Raid is central for all the must to see in Marrakech and is only about 500 meters (probably as the crow flies, as the alley ways and streets do not take the direct route, however that adds to the charm of Marrakech) from Jemaa El Fna square, so we only needed to walk to see all we intended to see. Walking through the bustling streets of the Souks, you don’t feel threatened. If Marrakech is on your list then we can recommend the Riad Catalina. However we would recommend staying in any of the Riads as most are centrally located and you get the true feel of Marrakech.
