I have recently returned from a weekend away in Marrakech for the third time, but this time we decided to stay in a riad after staying at the sofitel a couple of times.
What can i say about the catalina, well, it was magical the moment you walk down the winding backstreets, entering the little wooden door it was like a paradise inside, it certainly didnt feel like you were meters away from the hustle and bustle of the square.
The courtyard come dinning area was beautiful, exploding with fresh orange trees and coulors, and nothing but the sound of the singing birds!
As we checked in we were told we had been upgraded to a suite, not expecting it to be the royal suite! As we walked through the flowing curtains hiding the huge double doors we cam to our suite, expecting it to be the hall way of the riad, but no it was all ours! Two storys of beautiful cultured elegant room! there was stunning chanderliers everywhere you turned, enought beds and space to sleep six! Our own dinning table and three lounges, two downstairs and one up. Space was really not an issue!
Food at the hotel was superb standard, we had breakfast daily which consisted of mixed pancakes, freshly baked rolls with jams, and honeys! yougarts, fresh fruit, juice and a selection of teas and coffee, this truley was breakfast fit for royalty! We had lunch at the hotel one day, chicken tagine with fresh salads and locally sorced wine which was truly delucious! This cost us around 30 euros each including the half bottle of wine, dessert and the famous mint tea!
One day into our stay, a friend of mine flew over to join us and the staff were more than happy to have him, he paid a small nightly charge to stay in our suite, as there was plenty of room!
Overall the service of the catalina is excellent, nadia especially!! So helpful and need forfilling, would not fault a thing.....
Thank you.
