“Gave us a truly moroccan experience.”

My husband, two teenage girls and I said in the fabulous Dar El Souk at the beginning of July - we all loved it. The riad was a true escape from the wonderfully busy days in the city. Once through the raid door relaxation takes place due to the very pretty, calm and quiet environment and the staff who couldn't do enough for you. We enjoyed the plunge pool in days that hit 40c and dinner or drinks on the rooftop terrace in the evening felt cool and just so, so relaxing (lots of beds with crisp white cotton sheets dotted around to lie on). We stayed in the rooms that had a jack and Jill bathroom which suited us very well and was great value - air con worked very well and much needed in July. Food at the road is delicious - I can still taste the gorgeous flavours of the tagine. Each morning madeline was there to help with 'what to do' in Marrekesh - Madelines information made our trip! We walked in the Atlas mountains, climbed a waterfall (the very strong and interesting Mohammed was our guide) met a Berber family in their home, visited a saffron farm, met women who processed oil fro Aryan nuts by hand and all in safe hands of a driver called Abdul who was a delight to chat with. EVERY Moroccan we met was so friendly, kind and with a good sense of humour too! a visit to a Hamman is a must, Madeline recommended one for us. We went back to the road very clean and shiney! I strongly recommend this Riad, the staff and Madelines friendliness and help if you want a authentic experience of this interesting and fabulous city.

“Very tranquil and relaxing riyad”

My husband and I stayed at Dar el Souk in June for 4 nights, beautiful Riyad. The room was spacious with good air con. The room was cleaned every day and towels were replaced with clean ones every day also. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Maddie comes to the riyad each morning to see if you need any advice on where to visit, restaurants etc, lovely lady.
The riyad is three streets away from the main square, so a very good spot. You get to know all the locals on the way! We found the riyad very tranquil and relaxing. Waking up in such a lovely setting was wonderful. The staff would bring us coffee each morning and we would just tell them when we were ready for our breakfast.
We did all our site seeing in the mornings at it was extremely hot!, then we headed for Oasira water park each afternoon on the free shuttle bus from Mellah. Then we would return to the riyad and have a bottle of wine, relaxing by the plunge pool before getting ready for the evening trip to the main square.
We did the bus tour of Marrakech which we found interesting, we also wandered through the souks and stubbled across the Tannery! what an eye opener. The smell was a bit off putting but they give you a large handful of mint to sniff whilst looking round. You see the men washing skins and bleaching them all by hand. Well worth a visit.
During our stay, if we were looking slightly lost, the locals were more than happy to help and advise us of where to go, they are such friendly people.
We will definately be returning sometime very soon.

Room Tip: all rooms lovely, some larger than others

“LOVELY RIAD LOVELY STAFF”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 June 2011

Stayed for 4 nights - the Riad is situated in a good place to visit the Square and other attractions. Madi was very helpful with information on where to go and visit. The tour buses are good value and the trip to the Atlantis mountains was arranged by Madi so no hassle. The food was excellent and we had one lunch when we arrived that was hot and tasty after an early start. Overall very good experience the riad is lovely. My sister and i stayed in the family room 2nd floor beautiful. would recommend this riad.

Room Tip: Family room 2nd floor

“Brilliant service and location”

I visited Dar El Souk at the beginning of May 2011. I found it via hipmarrakech but dealt with the riad directly for my booking. It made a real difference being able to communicate with someone whose first language is English. We booked the Smarine room, which is 2 twin rooms with a bathroom in the middle - and we were lucky enough to get both at a reasonable price even though there were only 2 of us.
Madi is a fascinating and accommodating host - she is more than happy to help you make reservations and provide suggestions for things to do.
Do visit Hammam Ziani - it is a really good and reasonably priced hammam near the riad.
The location of the riad is excellent and it is only a 10 minute walk from the main square to the north, or 5 mins to the main road if you need a taxi elsewhere.
The staff in the riad are really helpful especially Reda who went out of his way to help.

“Lovely riad in the heart of Marrakech”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 June 2011

A small slice of paradise amongst all of the hustle and bustle of Marrakech. Wonderful atmosphere with traditional furnishings and comfortable rooms. Very welcoming staff on hand throughout the day with great recommendations of activities to do in and around the city. Delicious breakfasts and dinners with plenty of courses. Would definitely come back and recommend to all. xxx

Room Tip: Ring Madeline on the London number.
