This luxury-riad-turned-hostel has an enviable location in Marrakech -- just a couple minutes walking through markets from the main square. I felt safe walking to and from the square at all times of the day and night -- yes, the passageway immediately outside of the riad is a bit like a tunnel, but it's not a "bad" area -- the only thing that scared me was getting hit by the soccer ball that the funny kids were using to play a game in the walkway outside the hostel door.
It features gorgeous public areas, a beautiful, (by riad students) decent-sized pool and a large, mulch-tiered terrace. Breakfast is decent, although it would be nice if they offered hard-boiled eggs.
Some reviews have complained about bed bugs, but I didn't find any during my time at the hostel and I stayed in three different rooms over the course of several days.

3.) It would sometimes take a while to get the attention of front desk staff.
On balance, this is probably the independent traveler's best bet for a proper riad experience in Marrakech. Most other riads don't offer single or even twin rooms. If, however, you are traveling with someone special, it is probably better to seek out other riads for a bit more of an intimate and private experience with a higher level of service.
