“Fantastic riad & extremely attentive staff...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2007

I really disagree with the negative review below.

The riad was fantastic, and whilst it is reasonably far North in the Medina - the peace and tranquility of the location was a very welcome contrast to the chaos and buzz of the souks. The riad and terraces were larger than expected and rooms were clean, comfortable with incredible baths.

Our hosts Mostapha and Latifah could not have done more for us and from the moment we arrived we were made to feel that nothing was too much trouble. Mostapha's English was great and he helped us on Day 1 by drawing maps of where we were and some key landmarks to look out for over a glass of mint tea.

I would definitely visist Riad Abbassia again.

“Fantastic..Loved every second of it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2007

This Riad is truly wonderful. The rooms are clean and well decorated. We stayed at the amber suite and it was lovely. All the rooms are stunning and we popped in each one and took photos.

Breakfast was great, every morning fresh bread, butter, jam, egg, fresh juice, mint tea, pancakes and yogurt…my husband loved it and I had to drag him away from the table.

You may get lost the first day BUT that is part of the adventure. (mostapha does draw you a map when you arrive and explains things ) BUT you must get lost once to truly explore the area.

The riad is so peaceful (at times you will need that) walking distance to all attractions and just a 5 min taxi ride if you don’t fancy walking.

Mostapha speaks French and Arabic and also English (not as good as the French). We had no problem talking to him and having conversations with him. A little English and some French and a bit of Arabic we talked great with him and my French and Arabic has improved so much.
What makes this Riad better than the rest is that MOSTPAH and KADIEJEH (latefah has got married and not working any more) are friendly.. Great…wonderful and amazing and always ready with a smile.
From the time we got out of the taxi mostapha was ready to help in anyway. (Giving directions, advice about shopping and attractions, getting taxi and a guide). The thing about this riad , is that you feel part of the family. We loved every second of it.
You must eat at the riad. Kadiejeh is a great cook and mostapha sets a lovely table on the roof balcony.
We had 3 dinners, each one finger liking good.
I also sat in the kitchen while kadiejeh was cooking and learned to cook one dish 
If you are looking for the true feeling of a Moroccan home, then this riad is for you. It has comfort, elegance, clam and a friendly atmosphere about it.
Oh yeh as you walk out the riad you will see kids playing in the street , they are all very friendly and polite, always saying hello and how are you?......i gave some kids a couple of sweets and they where my best friends for the week, specially mohammed ayoub , 11 years old (small built for his age) . he would walk with us to the street , stop a taxi and tell the driver where we wanted to go , he also made sure we did not pay too much. He never asked for money, he just was a sweet boy with a cheeky face.
Mostapha, kadiejeh thank you so much for a great time…we will be back.
Mostapha say hi to ayoub from us.

“Tranquil oasis in a frantic city.”

We have just returned from a seven day stay at this wonderful Riad. We found the service received from Mustapha and his sister Latifah marvelous and discreet without being over attentive. Mustapha has a basic grasp of English and makes a concerted effort to make himself understood in this language. His communication with us was always successful. However, a basic grasp of French and / or Arabic by the visitor would help. Mustafa is a font of local knowledge and Latifah an excellent cook. The meal prepared for us was very good and the romantic setting on the roof patio quite special.

The Riad itself is a little pool of tranquility away from the manic pace of Jemaa El Fna and the Souks. The kitchen was spotless, the rooms well serviced and clean and everything functioning as per the marketing from the Riad internet site.

As others have stated, one should definitely arrange transport from the airport / station with Mustafa as this Riad - like all the Riad’s in the Medina, I suspect – will be difficult to find on one’s own.

13 of us have just returned from a 4 day stay at this Riad. Mustapha and Latifah made us fell very welcome. We e-mailed Mustapha from the UK to arranged collection to and from the airport, cars duly turned up and bags where carried for us .Nothing is too much trouble and attention to detail second to none, and all requests where fullfilled with a smile and military efficency. We had a traditional meal here on our first night and it was so brillant we arranged another meal for our last night discussing the menu with Latifah before hand.Do get Mustapha to arrange a guide, it allows you to view the city with out worring about getting lost in the souks. If your going to Marrakech this is the riad to stay at.

“Tranquil oasis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 April 2007

My sister and I have just returned from a 4 day stay at this Riad. Mustapha and Latifah were wonderful, nothing is too much trouble and attention to detail second to none. We had a traditional meal here with some other guests which was very nice. I would also recommend you get Mustapha to arrange to collect you from the airport as it is a very difficult Raid to find. you can not leave without having a massage and Mustapha can arrange this at the Riad, which is cheaper than anywhere else and worth going back to Marrakesh for! In a very chaotic and enchanting city this Riad is a delightful oasis of calm.
