Considering the excellent deal we got for this trip I would say we got what we paid for. The hotel is a little on the shabby side but still decent enough. The rooms are good if a little cold in January. We had air con/heating but ours wasn't working very well. We cranked it up to 27 degrees at one point and it just took the chill off. If we closed the curtains to keep the draft out and closed the door at the end of the hallway it got warmer.
The cleaning ladies were very nice and kept the rooms lovely and clean. Take a pair of slippers or indoor shoes with you as the floors are marble tiles and by the time you get to the toilet you have got cramp in your feet.
We were only on a B&B basis and at first the breakfast didn't seem too bad at all but it never changes and you can only eat so many boiled/scrambled eggs. The waiting staff are very helpful but only when you ask for something. They don't keep any of the buffet topped up very well until someone asks for more and then they go away and get it. The guy who greets you at the restaurant door and takes your room number as you go in does just that. The rest of the time he is playing cards on the computer.
As stated by other reviewers, most of the staff are very nice but the reception staff really let the place down. They don't smile, they make you wait when there is no need and have no idea about what reception staff are supposed to do. They give out the impression that they think they are superior to the rest of the staff and most of the guests.
Overall, I would go here again if necessary but would probably choose a hotel that was a little closer to the square and Souk and it is about a 20-25 minute walk, which is fine now and then but the same walk every day gets a little boring. There is nothing to do in the vicinity of the hotel you have to go on trips or walk/taxi it to the square. That's where all the action is.
