“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

It's just off the main square but away from the majority of the hustle and bustle and you can get a scent of real Marrakesh. Outside the hotel and it's just a short walk to butchers and shops that seem to provide day to day essentials for the locals, at a fraction of the price of the main square.

We had a quad room as it was the only one left. It was tight for space as it wasn't much bigger than the others, just had more beds in it. It was tasteful, clean, calm and all that we needed. Beautiful building.

We didn't use the Hamman. We didn't eat at the hotel

“Great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

My son and I were given a quadruple room on the ground floor as a twin. Consequently it was quite roomy with a small but perfectly adequate shower-room. We were really happy with our stay in this riad which is very well located not far from the main square. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly and I would highly recommend this property. If I return to Marrakesh (which I really hope to), I will definitely try and stay here again.

“Can't beat the location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

Steps from the Jemaa, you can't beat the location. Because of the location, you can't expect it to be quiet, though. Our room was fine, the bathroom could have used a little work. Small touches like a shelf or shower curtain that goes to the floor would go a long way. We loved the rooftop restaurant and breakfast was very good. The staff was very nice and helpful. Recommended for those that want to be where the action is.

“Lovely riad accommodation with a great location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

Rooms arranged around a tiled fountain courtyard with lots of Moroccan touches. Rooms are small but well appointed - with lots of cupboard space, good bedside reading light, small bathrooms but piping hot showers etc. Rooms do vary in size and facilities - so might be good to look at a few. (The first room we were given was slightly larger, had a heater etc.) As with all riad accommodation noise can be a problem, sound in any area of the building can be heard throughout. But this is lovely typical riad accommodation at a good price. Price of a double en-suite room MAD 380.
Free internet access is available for five or ten minutes then there is a charge of Euro 2 per hour. There is also WIFI. Rooms are cleaned every day.
Breakfast is served on a pretty terrace or on the roof and is good value for money at MAD 40 p.p. (Two varieties of pancake, egg, home-made yogurt, bread, jam, honey, fresh orange-juice and coffee or tea). The restaurant also serves reasonably priced meals in the evening.
A private hammam is also available.
The best thing about Jnane Mogador is it's great location - only 200m from Djemaa el-Fna, right in the heart of all the Marrakesh madness, but still quiet and peaceful.
We considered this place a great find and will definitely stay again on our next trip to Marrakesh.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the upper floor - quieter and lighter.

“Beautiful gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

Well what can I say? This riad is dripping with character and made our trip to Marrakech perfect. I am so glad we didn't settle for a western hotel. This riad is tucked away in a small cobbled street minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the souk.

We stayed in the beautiful triple room. The decor was outstanding and the beds were very comfortable with layers upon layers of bedding to keep us nice and warm (we went in December so the evenings turn very chilly) The toilet and shower were very clean which is I think says a lot about a hotel. The triple is only 46 euros a night, spilt that between three-cheap as chips!

In the morning we always took advantage of the HUGE breakfast which is needed for a day of haggling in the Souk. This consisted of a pot of tea each, glass of fresh orange, pancakes with honey, variety of pastries, egg with toast and yogurt all for under £10 for three people. In the evening you can sit up on the roof terrace overlooking Marrakech whilst sipping on a beautiful hot chocolate or mint tea. Remember no alcohol is served in Marrakech unless you are staying in a western hotel, but why would you want to stay there when you can live and breathe what its all about. Waiting to get served for breakfast was sometimes a little slow, but I think thats mainly because we went at a quiet time of year so we did have to sit and wait for quite sometime before the waiter knew we were there, but again this is just a little niggle.

The staff in the hotel were all extremely friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel and this one only to anyone I knew jetting off to Marrakech.

Marrakech itself is full of culture and quite a shock from your usual european break away or beach holiday. In the evening everything comes to life, the streets are filled with musicians, snake charmers, acrobats and food sellers. Animal lovers beware, some of the sights can be a little upsetting as these are working animals. Remember most of Marrakech's inhabitants fulfil muslim religion obligation, so you should be respectful of this. Wearing shorts and skimpy vest tops is a bad idea. Cover up and dress modestly and you will not receive unwanted attention.

This is the cheapest holiday I have ever been on! I took £130 for three days spending money, this bought me breakfast, lunch and a three course dinner (overlooking the market) every day, shopping every single day (2 leather bags, 2 pairs of leather shoes, necklace, little presents for back home) and I didn't struggle at all.

A beautiful city but this hotel made it extras special! Happy travelling...
