I love visiting the Market when in Marrakech. I rarely shop in the actual market but I love to visit all the little souks that are hidden around it. You get much better value for money. Do not be afraid to haggle. My bf is marrakean and the vendors often try and bump the price up when they see me, he still says no. Whatever they ask half it because thats usually what it really costs.
I often walk down for a coffee and sit there and watch the world go by.
Be careful of the monkeys. The 'masters' often ask for as m uch as £15 per monkey and they do try and get as many on you as possible. Agree a price before letting them sit on you, a friend of mine had that trouble. Also the monkeys will rob you given half the chance so keep your goods zipped away.
In the morning its so peaceful between 9 and 1pm, Marrakeans dont start work till 1/2 in the afternoon after the highest heat has gone so you can shop in peace. But from 2 till midnight its absolutely chaotic. So if you hate hussle bussle and nearly being ran over by bikes carriages and taxis I would recommend going in the morning.
I love Marrakech and I cannot wait to move there in the future.
