My girlfriend and I stayed in this hotel for a week from 7th till 14th of May. Overall it was alright for what we needed.
The room was basic, but we would only stay there for the nights so we were not bothered. However it was very clean in both the room and bathroom.
The breakfast was a buffet with enough choice for everyone, we did not book for lunch and dinner since we preferred eating in town but it seemed to often be full.
The bus to town does cost some money, but a return for two people came out as 60 dirham (£3.60) so not really too much. It goes several
times a day, you need to book it in advance but shouldn't have issues
with this.
The pool was very nice, but expect a lot of loud music and people trying to get you to join in events (dancing, water aerobics, waterpolo...etc.), this is good for people with younger children.
The lock-box in the room requires you to leave a guarantee of 2000 dirhams (£120) with the front desk. You get this back minus the amount of the cost for the week.
Staff was friendly although spoke only french or arab. My girlfriend spoke some french and we managed to get by. If you only speak english
it may not be too easy explaining what you want.
It isn't too far from town, 20-25min bus ride. Fair enough it doesn't
stop in the medina, but it isn't far to walk to Jemaa El Fna (main square), maybe 10-15mins. Also from where the bus stops (Gueliz area)
there are some very nice restaurants within walking distance.
They do organise excursions here as well (quad-bikes, camels) although for something a bit more authentic go to town and book a proper tour to the desert. A tour with overnight stay in desert cost us 1000 (£60) dirham each and was well worth it.
Taxis to town are also available but don't expect the hotel to help you. They are just parked outside the gates and you will have to barter with them. All Grande Taxis so don't expect to get it cheap. Aim to pay between 80-100 (£4-6) dirham. At night they will complain it costs more and tell you 150 (£9) but stay firm and go with 100 maximum.
Money was never a problem, Morocco tends to be very cheap, but there is a cash machine in the lobby which I found much better than any exchange bureau. It is also safer to take money there than in town.
Safety-wise, this hotel has guards and gates and you feel very safe while inside. Outside isn't perhaps a place where you would like to walk about, so stick to taking a taxi out of there.
Checking out was not a problem, we did it the night before since we had an early flight.
Overall, we were satisfied as it suited what we needed, but if you are looking to stay in the hotel a lot perhaps you should look elsewhere. 3/5
