Upsides: clean, nicely decorated new rooms. Swimming pool and sun lounge area (bit small but still adequate for marrakech). Breakfast was decent (not sure if worth the money, but still ok). Generally the staff were friendly (apart from final day argument!) and the location was probably the best you can expect for good hotels in the city (half way between old and new town).
Downsides: The room was VERY small. On the last day they charged us an extortionate amount for a 30 second phone call we'd made, and also claimed we'd drank beer from the mini-bar (we're two girls that don't drink beer). We had to argue for a long time to get out of the mini-bar charges which was a bit unpleasant, make sure you check your bill.
General tip for marrakech - don't get in a taxi without insisting it's on the meter. They will rip you off seriously. It should cost 15dh maximum to get into old town, 20 at night. Taxis from the airport will be expensive and they'll refuse to put it on the meter but be prepared to haggle furiously. Don't let them take your cases until you've agreed a price!
