I went with a girl friend and we stayed for 4 nights at the end of june in the 40-50 degree heat.
The location of the Riad we thought was great, a 15 min walk from the main square. However after the first 5 mins of walking you are out of the main tourist drag and seeing the real Moroccan way of life. The last 2 mins before the Riad you have to take tiny little alley ways where children play and men loiter. Some might find this intimidating especially at night. We never felt threatened - though we did make sure our knees and shoulders were always covered, a strange concept for me in a hot country.
The Riad itself is lovely, the court yard with orange trees and a fountain are very calming. After check in which included our first try of mint tea we were taken to a lovely room on the first floor, unfortunately it was a double and we had requested a twin. We were led up to the second floor where there was a twin room. Both had aircon and were of a good size. We spent the first night here but realised in the morning that there was a prob with water pressure to the second floor, consequently the shower and taps got water intermittently. So to the third room a twin on the ground floor with no aircon but water. This was the smallest room but still a reasonable size. The decor is different in each room, some are more colourful than others. The bathrooms were a good size and had brass sinks! The beds were comfy, we never heard the call to prayer early in the morning, and we slept with the window open.
Breakfast was a casual affair at whatever time you wanted. Fresh orange, jams, bread, and a warm dish changing daily (we had omelet, crepe, and a Moroccan pastry/bread thing!) It was fine though i guess it could get boring for a whole week.
Dinner is available but must be pre booked, we at in the riad once and thoroughly enjoyed it. They do all typical Moroccan food - it was good.
The staff are wonderful unfortunately for us the english speaking member of staff wasn't about our whole stay so although we communicated in a basic manner we couldn't find out all the real insider tourist info.
There is a roof terrace with a few sun beds, it's interesting up the just looking at the views across the roof tops. During our time it was impossible to sun bath up here after 10 am and before about 4 pm (and i am a total sun worshiper) as there is no wind, or a shower or pool to cool off in (we did know this before we went i am just making you aware if you plan to just sun bath it might not be the best place to do it - in june at any rate)
Would I recommend this Riad -
YES if you are looking to see the real side of Marrakesh
NO if you are just interested in going out partying and laying in the sun all day
