I stayed in the annexe which is just across the lane from the original riad. The room was smallish, simply furnished but spotlessly clean, with pretty colored glass windows looking into a small central courtyard. Hot water available 24 hours with good pressure. It is very quiet. The free wifi available in the main riad did not reach to the annexe. The main door to the annexe is kept locked. You need to go to the main riad to get it opened for you each time you wish to access, but this does make it also quite secure.

The main riad is gorgeous. Plenty of sitting areas but poor light for reading. Breakfast is boiled egg, packaged yoghurt and a plate of different breads and croissant with beautiful jams. the service is good.

Dinner is also offered at the riad for an additional charge. There is a set menu at 300 dirham which I did not access. You can also order a single main...I had a chicken pastillo @ 110 dirhams. Nice enough but not outstanding.

The riad organised an airport transfer which was efficient.

Thank you Ahmed for your care of us during our stay. The Riad is beautiful and relaxing your staff welcoming and very helpful. Especially when we arrived back exhautsted from our forrays outside and feeling that we had somehow been targets of yet more little scams.
You even went beyond the call of duty at 6:00am in the morning when we found ourselves unable to communicate to our driver . Thank you and best wishes for the future.

Dar Anebar is really quite lovely. The courtyard is beautiful, and the service is impeccable. Everyone is friendly and attentive. The maitre d' is so helpful, making some great recommendations for dinner.

We had stayed in the annex, which is a great bargain. You get all the amenities and the services of the main part of the hotel, but at a fraction of the price. The rooms in the annex are still really nice. The beds were some of the nicest we stayed in (a lot of the riads had very VERY firm beds). The bathroom was also nice, with a nice shower (once we reminded them to turn on electric water heater). The bathroom didn't have a door though - which is odd if you're sharing.

Despite all this, the hotel felt a bit contrived and lacked the personality and warmth of the others we'd stayed in. All of the employees were dressed up in colonial-styled garb, and were called by owner with a ringer. It felt a bit forced...as though they were trying to accomplish what they thought tourists wanted to see. In most places this might be fine, but in Morocco where riads and hotels have such character and warmth, sometimes feeling like you're staying in someone's home, this sort of place feels like it just falls short.

Not much to add that hasn't already been said - it's as good as they say.

We had booked onto one of the annex rooms on people's recommendation. When we arrived we were shown to the room and although small it was all we needed - decent beds, clean shower, bright and airy. Then we were offered a free upgrade to one of the suites in the main house (Amina I think). Of course we accepted - the windows look out onto the courtyard, it has more style than the annex rooms and it was nice to be in the main building. Having said that the annex would have been more than fine - you still have full run of the main building. The bed is huge - 8ft at least! The upgrade (made possible I think by the lack of tourists) made our stay exceptional value.

We ate there three times - being guests we didn't have to stick to the menu, which was great as portions are generous to say the least. The food is as good as they say, wine was very decent - especially the Medaillon red. Pre dinner drinks are on offer and come with an array of nibbles - olives, nuts, biscuits - so much you could almost not bother having supper.

Service is just right - nothing is too much trouble, but certainly not overbearing. The one thing we learnt in our stay was how keen moroccans are to please. The jovial Mustapha and his team were always on hand if needed - whether to advise on clothing, suggest menus, post mail, whatever. Owner Ahmed is very much in evidence as well, checking his guests are happy, sorting out any minor niggles, rushing off to collect dining guests.

After the noise, smell and claustrophobia of the medina it was wonderful to return to the tranquil courtyard or roof terrace of Dar Aneba and unwind with a beer!

Go there now and keep Mustapha busy - he's getting too good at solitaire!
