“Impressive Riad at The Heart of The Medina”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

The interior, with its thoughtful and painstaking restoration, is breathtaking, almost like staying in a museum; and the terrace on the roof, with its stunning 360 degree view, is a great place to chill out and watch the sun set while the muezzin calls the faithful to prayer after a day exploring the medieval labyrinths of the medina. Our room was really more like a suite, great design and with good quality bedding and linen; very comfortable. The owners and the staff are all amazingly friendly and hospitable and really do make you feel at home; we came away feeling like we´d been staying with friends. They organise very reasonably priced guides for half or full day walking tours around the medina; the half day we took helped us a lot to get our bearings and the guide himself was a walking history book.Traditional Moroccan breakfasts are outstanding and are included in the room rate. Make sure you have dinner at least one night; ours was excellent: fresh pea soup, vegetable meze, kofta tagine with perfectly spiced rice and a wonderfully gooey carrot confection for dessert.

“Genuine Hospitality”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Having read all the glowing reports we (two couples) could not wait to visit. We were not disappointed. The decor, the staff, the food were exemplary. Unfortunately we arrived in Fes during a particularly cold snap so suffered in particular in the bathrooms.
Please Dar Seffarine provide better lighting in the rooms which apart from being chilly, were gloomy. Some compromise on style in favor of comfort is required. No reading lights neither by the bed nor anywhere else in the rooms. Also we could not close the bathroom door as there was no inside handle. Towels were of poor quality. An extra waste bin would have been welcome.

“Amazing interior, great food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

I'd have to say without a doubt, the top experience when in Marrakech was the place I stayed in Fes. Dar Seffarine outshone all of the others, although not by a mile, as they were all very good.
But the interior, the staff, the food, all recommend themselves.
But first, the directions on their site were clear enough that with some common sense you can find it fairly easily from RCIF, (partly by following the crowds - handy to arrive before too late).
the staff, Kate, Zhourein (?) and the others are polite, helpful, friendly.
The interior is beautifully and richly detailed in its renovation. My room is on the ground floor and whilst that might sound possibly noisy, very quiet and peaceful, tastefully finished.
Breakfast on the terrace is wonderful, with all of the local specialties.
Dar Seffarine also offered dinner in the evening, which I tried on two nights, and the food was simple but very good, worth doing.

Well recommended.

“Beautiful place managed by beautiful and warm people.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

Highly recommend this place to anyone going to Fes. Hospitality doesn't get any better than at this Dar. In addition, its a real pleasure to get to know the owners who are wonderful human beings.

“We almost moved here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

I cannot say enough good things about Dar Seffarine and the amazing staff! It was really one of the best things about our trip to Morocco (and we had a pretty great trip!). Alaa, the owner, and the staff were so warm and hospitable, it really felt like we were staying with friends. The recently-renovated Dar also happens to be ridiculously beautiful and conveniently located in the historic center of the medina. Oh, and breakfast... I was there last March, and I still miss it. My only regret is not writing this review sooner. I will be back in March!
