“Moroccan delight”

I am not sure what to add to other reviews, as everything seems to have been said already: the lovely atmosphere and stylish decor (authentic without being contrived, and yet personal and contemporary), the delicious food (who needs to go out?), the warm and always helpful hospitality... My husband and I travelled to Fes with our 9 month old baby, and I was a little concerned about how being in a hotel would reconcile with feeding and caring for the little one. I shouldn't have worried: Stephan, Bruno and their staff were absolutely charming and accommodating, and everything went smoothly. Stephan and Bruno were also very generous with their time and advices for us when we ventured in the Medina for some shopping, which we really appreciated.
We would recommend Riad Numero 9 to anyone wishing to experience a more authentic Fez than what could be offered by some more corporate but less personal establishments.

“Beautiful riad with beautiful hospitality”

Ladies and gentlemen - the reviews on here are all true! This place is as majestic as all other reviewers have made it out to be. And like everyone has said, the hospitality also shines through -- Stephen and Bruno are fabulous and Atika and her sisters make the stay complete.

We were upgraded to the master suite, which was stunning. The decor in both the room and bathroom were divine - attention to detail in every single nook.

Two other pluses of this riad that haven't through in the review yet are: (1) the excellent location. You couldn't be closer to the main drags of the medina, and yet you're a couple streets off, which makes finding and entering the riad that much more intimate. (2) the terrace is incredible at all times of the day. On the first night, we were still jetlagged from traveling from the states, and the sunrise at 5:45am was unbelievable (esp for photos!). If you're jetlagged like we were, head upstairs early!!!

Don't wait - book now - and stay here! If we come to Fes again, obviously this is our only choice.

“Fabulous!”

I can only agree with what other people have said about this Riad. It is exceptional!

Stephen, Bruno and their "family" are outstanding. Nothing is too much trouble and they really make you feel at home....in fact it's much, much better than home! It's so tastefully decorated, classy, intimate and everything little thing is thought of, even down to a couple of cosy hot water bottles in your bed at night.

We had a delightful New Years Eve there and enjoyed Bruno's cooking a little too much. I think there were about 6 or 7 courses and it was amazing. Stephen and Bruno are opening a new restaurant next year and I am sure it will be a great success.

Stephen spends lots of time with you to give advice on things to do in Fez, shops to try, prices to pay for goods, cafes to visit. You certainly don't get this sort of service at any hotel chain. They really are interested in people and making sure you have an enjoyable stay. We even got an upgrade to the huge top floor room after our first night.

Make sure you take some time out to chill out on the roof top terrace. It has wonderful views over Fez and is a great antidote for the madness of the medina.

We can't wait to return to Fez and stay here again.

PS I recommend Bruno's banana jam at breakfast and also Atika's sister's fantastic Harira soup!

“Truly a wonderful escape; lovely people!”

We were three women travelling on a reunion trip. This place was the perfect place for us to relax, hang out, explore Fes, and basically catch up on each others' lives. The setting is breathtaking; your jaw will literally drop upon entering the riad. It feels as if each square inch of the riad is carefully thought out. Each little detail is looked after, and every little detail, including the artwork on the walls, the decorative items on the tables, down to the bathroom accessories, are all fascinating. Each bedroom and bathroom are unique; we had the most fun the first day, where we spent a couple of hours just exploring every nook and cranny of the riad.

But the jewels of the riad are definitely the people of the riad. The house manager Atika (sp?) is really wonderful. She speaks almost fluent English, and is very friendly and meticulous and made it her priority to make sure we were comfortable. She was really fun to talk to as a woman close to our age. Stephen, the owner of the riad, is very hospitable, warm, and welcoming. He told us little bits and pieces of the story of the house, and we could truly see that it was a labor of love. His partner Bruno made the most delicious meals for us- and his desserts are really to die for!

I could go on and on about what a wonderful place this is. This was a truly memorable trip of a lifetime, and this riad is a unique experience of a lifetime. It is a place that I would love to return to in about 10 years with my same 2 friends to experience this again!

Room Tip: Each room is unique; would definitely recommend reserving the entire house; probably not the best fo...

“Best Riad in Fes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

What I want to know is how Riad Numero 9 is not the first choice on trip advisor. It is far and beyond the top accommodation in Fes and it was the best place we stayed at during our trip to Morocco. Stephen and Bruno were the most gracious hosts and were really a pleasure to get to know. They were incredibly accommodating and really helped us find the best places to see, shop and dine (not that we needed to dine out much, Bruno's cooking was spectacular... we constantly found ourself wanting his food after we left Fes.) Atika and her sisters were incredibly kind and made us feel really comfortable. It is always a pleasure to know you are staying in a place that is immaculately clean. The rooms were very comfortable and incredibly designed with great attention to detail. We stayed in the luxurious master suite and in the room on the floor below it. The beautiful and incredibly chic house was a very warm and inviting retreat from the hubbub of the medina. Some of our most enjoyable times spent in Fes were in the riad getting to know Stephen, Bruno and their wonderful staff. We felt like we were visiting long lost friends. We hope we will be to return to Fes so that we can stay at Riad Numero 9 and eat at Bruno's new restaurant!
