“,majestic, serene,attentive,good food,quiet area”

I'd say it may have belonged to minor royalty.tons of mosaics, hand decorated wood ceilings
such as we saw in museums. Lovely peace and quiet. No vehicular traffic except the taxi which brought us. Beautiful central courtyard with trees and gardens where tons of birds gather in the evening and early morning. Nice hamam but skip the massage which was done by adorable giggling young women (who had not been actually trained) and whom we later saw serving in the dining room(although my husband quite enjoyed it!) The food was the best we had in Morocco- in all honesty it's much better in Toronto.

“Not worth the money”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 May 2010

We went to Fez as part of our honeymoon trip and decided to spend a bit extra on some nice accomodation. The website makes this hotel look very plush and offers all sorts of extra services. Despite the mixed reviews, I was hopeful that we would have a good experience.

When we arrived, there seemed to be some confusuon about who we were and when I gave the staff member my email confirmation, it was abruptly wisked away never to be seen again. There was no mint tea or pastries offered despite the website promising some on arrival. The room was ok, but smelled of damp. Toiletries consisted of a bar of soap and a sachet of shower gel, what you would expect in a 3 star. There was only a tub with a handheld shower so you had to squat in the tub to bathe. I also had to catch 2 cockroaches that were in the bathroom one night - I suppose everywhere has pests, but just added to the disappointment of what we thought would have been a really nice 5 star hotel.

Breakfast is pretty good, and we were pressured to eat lunch and dinner at the Riad but we politely and firmly declined and they didn't bother us too much. Food is really cheap in the Medina. We also were approached by a guide in the riad, but we chose to explore on our own and we were completley fine.

The hotel also advertises free wireless internet, which also didn't exist on our stay. You must pay to use the sauna and the hammam.

The main problem is that we never really felt welcome in the hotel. Staff were generally friendly, but a tad disorganised and not very forthcoming. You could easliy spend half the price and have a much better experience elsewhere.

“Friendly, luxurious hospitality worthy of One Thousand and One Nights”

My wife and I spent five nights in early June of 2009 at the Ryad Sheherazade.
We were not disappointed by its beauty and rather authentic look and feel. If you're visiting Fes and want an authentic Moroccan experience then I highly recommend this Ryad.
Rooms are delightfully decorated with authentic Moroccan furniture, paintings and artefacts.
The food was excellent with authentic Moroccan cuisine in the beautiful garden
The location is also remarkable in the middle of Fes Medina,
Everything is neat and tidy and the staff are very friendly and helpful, with a special mention for Amal.

“the riad is really beautiful but...”

The palce is realy beautiful ( a former prime minister's palace) and our room was very nice BUT service and staff should be improved.
Breakfast is served from 8 a.m. but at that time nothing is ready. The tables are not prepared and we had to ask for a table cloth (we got old, not too clean place mats) - service was very slow since there was only a waiter on duty in the morning - we were "stalked" by one of the waiter who wanted a tip
PS = Some rooms are at patio level: cannot sleep till all the activities (restaurant, music etc) in the patio are finished
