“5 star pool, but not 5 star hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

The pool area was lovely, and we enjoyed an afternoon by the pool with Casablanca beers. The young man by the bar was occasionally hard to find, and we were fortunate enough to have asked for pool towels (these seem to be held in a cabana area and have to be provided by the staff. As a result, many from our tour resorted to using their room towels.

As we were a trio sharing a room, we were pleasantly surprised with a large room which provided us with some space! Wifi was available in the public areas, some of our group were able to access it from their room, but this seemed to depend on distance from the public areas. So, ask for a room close to the lifts if you want wi fi in your room! The food was not great - had 2 breakfasts and 1 dinner.

Generally, the hotel was ok. The pool was great though. Obviously is not close to anything though, but as we were on a tour, this did not bother us.

“Loved This Hotel!!!”

This was one of my favorite hotels while touring Morocco with friends...Who would guess you could fill and extra hour by BOWLING??? The setting, the hotel, the lobby, and the rooms were all above my expectations! Plus it has a fun hammam/spa. The grounds were very atmospheric and even had free wifi...I would go back to this hotel and Fes in a heartbeat!!!

“Beautiful to look at but sleep may be out of the question if you forget your ear plugs!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

Of all the hotels we stayed at in Morocco, this one was one of the lowest rated by Trip Advisor critics yet we found it to actually be quite pleasant and beautiful during the day. The decor in the lobby, though quite under-lit, is traditional with a tea service area and lots of sofas for those who want to troll the internet. Smoking is allowed everywhere in Morocco so be prepared. Somehow, Moroccans have figured out ventilation and there is always a spot where the smoke isn't as bad. The rooms are huge and airy and those on the pool/courtyard side have an extra area with two lounging sofas and a coffee table and a balcony with a view of the courtyard and fountain. The mattresses are comfortable but the pillows are incredibly lumpy from being washed without the proper technique. The main part of the bathroom with the shower and sink is roomy but the toilet room is so tiny that in order to close the door, you have to siddle alongside the toilet bowl to swing the door shut and I'm a fairly small person. My roommate would've liked the room to be a bit cooler but we were unable to get anything out of the air conditioning system. Since we were there in November it wasn't an issue but I'd hate to be there in the middle of August. Most Moroccan hotels have sensor lighting in the hallways which doesn't always work. As you walk down the hall, the lights come on as they sense your approach. This works most of the time but occasionally, the light doesn't come on - I think there is a small delay if someone else has used the light recently - resulting in a very dark trek. On several occasions I opened the door to my room and stepped into a pitch black hallway. However, we discovered several light switches on the wall with a wee orange glow - find one of those and you can manually turn the light on. The food is so-so which was disappointingly more the rule than the exception in Morocco - especially at the hotels. I ate a lot of yogurt and bread for breakfast. Aside from the occasional Clementine or orange, fruit was very hard to come by. Scrambled eggs were runny and flavorless and the hard-cooked eggs were often cooked right between runny and hard which to me is quite unpalatable. One really fun thing about this hotel - they have a bowling alley which we utilized for a quick game one afternoon. Don't count on your skill to beat your less talented friends because the lane will quickly even out the odds being somewhat warped giving your ball a mind of its own as it heads toward the pins. But it's still rather fun to go bowling in your hotel and they even have black-light bowling. Fun! As I said in the title, it's beautiful to look at but sleep may be out of the question. If you are anywhere on the side of the hotel near the disco it will be noisy with pounding music and laughter all night long. If you are on the courtyard side, the gurgling water in the plumbing system will wake you up every time someone flushes or uses the sink due to paper thin walls. And to top it off, a dog which must've been the size of a Yeti, barked the entire night both nights we were there - its barks echoing and reverberating through the courtyard. A call to the desk elicited a shrug. We were certain the dog belonged to the hotel and was chained on the other side of the pool. Bring your ear plugs!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room far away from the disco which goes all night.

“Impressed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

This was our first introduction to morocco and we were impressed when we first entered the resort. The spacious lobby was decorated in Moroccan style and there were lots of public areas, all impressively decorated. We stayed here two nights and enjoyed it immensly. Our room was large and clean with a beautiful Moroccan couch and pillows everywhere. There was a balcony directly overlooking the pool. What a great view! We also loved the pool area and spent a wonderful afternoon relaxing there with some Casablanca beer from the pool bar. We couldn't seem to find a pool attendant though and had to make do without towels. They could also use a few more loungers. The beer is very pricey as is the wine here but this applies to all of Morocco since you can only buy it at the resorts. Be aware that they do not provide everything they claim. We had no bathrobes and received no complimentary bottled water. We had to buy all our water including with dinner. The A/C needs to be set cooler. Our room was too warm all the time. Overall though service was good and we really enjoyed this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the pool.
