“Pretty much OK. Would grade as 4-”
It has been a difficult decision: should it be graded as 3 or 4.
To be honest, it was better than 3 but not as good as to be 4. So, let’s say 4-
One doesn’t need to take the stars´ race very seriously. A much more important factor is to take in consideration what do you get in return for your hard-earned bucks. Simplifying it a lot, one can say, this analysis should always be done in relative terms taking in consideration at least four variables.
1. Price
2. Standard of service
3. Political, social and geographical structure of the market
4. Overall price level

Remember, Morocco is neither a working democracy nor a perfect market economy, rendering several social indicators rather skewed. The same is true with this property.
Despite having quite impressive infra-structure, it lacks the soul. Yeah, it is faded but that can be fixed quite easily if you only want to. Non-enthusiastic staff trying to mint money when and where they see a chance. This means that you pay heed to their recommendations on your own peril. However, in given circumstances, I do understand it even though I definitely don’t condone it.
On the positive site, as compared to overly commercialised riads in Medina, I think it is still a better alternative, if not visiting Fes for the very first time. Because, if you are in Fes for the first time, one may try the riad alternative, at least for the sake of experience, if nothing else.
There are few reviewers here who have complained about the breakfast. It is perplexing indeed as we found breakfast more than satisfactory – serving a wide range of products.
In short, it would be unfair on our part to complain. For us a family of four, 2 adults, 2 kids, it was quite an optimal solution in Fes.
