This was the second time we stayed here. The first time was several years ago, my entire family was visiting our daughter in the Peace Corps, and Casablanca served as our hub as we flew in and out to Mali, Canary Islands, and back home. At the time, this hotel was highly professional. The managers were very helpful, and made everything much easier than it might have been.

My wife and I returned in December, only for a day. This time, my wife was sick, and it was comforting to know where I was going and the quality of staff. I'm happy to report that they have same high level of service and professionalism.

We had a very good experience at the Hotel Guynemer. Yes, the rooms are not exactly modern, but the staff was very friendly and helpful, and the food in the restaurant was excellent. If you want a place with the brisk and impersonal efficiency of a modern hotel, this might not be the place for you. But if you want a place where you feel like family after a day or two (with all the vivid personalities, quirkiness, and warmth that families often entail), then the Guynemer is a good bet.

Like previous reviewers, I am somewhat confused by Lonely Planet giving this hotel as a "Top Pick". Even accounting for the fact that this is a budget hotel, it is really not good and I would recommend that you find someplace better.

The rooms are small. The bathrooms even smaller. The bathroom door is practically seethrough. The bathrooms are so small that you practically have to walk sideways to get from the toilet to the shower.

The rooms and bathroom are not particularly clean and have a funny damp smell. We woke up in the morning with water dripping down the wall.

The tour that the hotel runs, while adequate, does not offer value for money.

Also, I would warn female travelers that if you are unfortunate enough to attract the attention of one of the male staff members, it could get quite annoying for you.

This family run hotel in central Casablanca is one of the best welcomes to Morocco one could ask for. A quaint hotel, very clean and well kept but the best part is the staff. They went out of their way to assist us in collecting our luggage that arrived in Casablanca two days after we did and also offered many suggestions on touring both 'Casa' and the country of Morocco. Their very friendly and personal service helped us to arrange drivers and guides on to Rabat and Meknes that were excellent! I cannot imagine how anyone could find this hotel and the staff to be anything but excellent.
